I just booked the Best Western Island Palms in Shelter Island. I got a great rate with the entertainment card. :thumbsup2 Can anyone give me breakfast and dinner recommendations that are in the area? We'll have a car.

Thank you!

We are also staying at the Best Western Island Palms. When are you there? I noticed we have the same countdown clocks. We will be there May 1-3, then heading up to Disneyland and staying at the HOJO.

Funny, funny!!! We're checking in May 1 and checking out May 4, driving to Anaheim and checking into the Hojo. Great minds thing alike. :rotfl:

What kind of food do you like? Seafood? Pizza? Mexican? Steak? Burgers? Italian? There are places nearby that cater to all of those.

The restaurant at Humphrey's Half Moon Inn is quite good for lunch or dinner - it's mostly seafood. The Brigantine, on Shelter Island Drive, is umm...steak and seafood, I think? Miguel's Cocina, on Shelter Island at Scott St. serves pretty good Mexican food. If you like burgers, The Boll Weevil, on Shelter Island Drive, serves not fancy, but good burgers and fries.

For breakfast...hmmm. There's a place called the Point Break Cafe that's in a little strip mall on Scott Street, about a block off of Shelter Island Drive, that serves a very good breakfast (they serve breakfast all day). There's also a Denny's a few blocks away. Marvelous Muffins has muffins and other pastries, and that's pretty good. It's also on Shelter Island Drive, across from Miguel's.

Old Venice is a nice Italian place on Scott Street, about three blocks from Shelter Island Drive.

Umi Sushi, also on Shelter Island Drive, is very good - I don't really like sushi, but they have good teriyaki and tempura, also.

Oh, and if you want a REALLY nice (but pricey) dinner, try Roseville. That's on Rosecrans St, a mile or so from the Best Western.

We are going to be staying on Shelter Island, is it hard to get to attractions if you don't have a car? It sounds like the hotel shuttle may be able to bring us some of the time when they are not picking anyone up from the airport or downtown...

It'll be difficult (time consuming) to get public transportation to attractions like the Zoo or Sea World, but you can take a taxi - neither of those is very far from Shelter Island.

for letting me know. It sounds like the hotel has a shuttle that we may be able to take sometimes, or at least to the downtown area where we can catch a trolley or something. We may end up renting one for a day, who knows? It will just be nice to relax by the pool after the frenetic days at Disney! :rotfl:

Phishy, How do you get an entertainment rate?? I wonder if they work on the suites also? Thanks!
