We have always stayed at a value or moderate resort but I have always wanted to stay at a monorail resort but could never justify the extra money. Recently I received a pin code that is good for 2009 and I just got off of the phone with Disney and I can stay at the GF for $240/night, the Poly for $213or the CR for $168...needless to say I am very excited! My question is since I have no experience with any of these, is one better suited for kids (11,13) than the other? Doesn't CR have alot of conventions there? Any advice is appreciated!

Your kids would probably enjoy the Poly the best.

But CR and GF are good too.

You didn't say when you are going. The CR was under some renovations recently and I think the pool was closed. Check if you are going soon.

Poly, we only stayed one night before the cruise and the kids loved it.

We are staying at the Poly this our first trip. We are using the 4/3 deal and thought it was worth it. We are also celebrating our 10th anniversary and my birthday :cheer2: and I plan on spending lots of time on that hammock. :beach: If it was just an annual trip, we'd probably do moderate.

best of luck deciding..

I'd probably choose the Poly for your kids.

I'm also betting that the quote for the CR is for the garden wing and not the main building. I have to admit that our room in the main building MK view was amazing (in 2007 had the 40% off code as well).

If your trip is going to be after May, you might want to try the CR because from the rumours, the new pool area should be pretty cool and that should pretty much finish up the renovation of the entire resort (public areas, rooms and recreation).

Does your family have a preference as far as theming?
E.g., would they like Mary Poppins (GF) or Lilo & Stitch (Poly)?
(have never stayed at the Contemp. so can't help w/ that one.)

Personally, I vote for the Poly as my fave.

We went to the Yacht Club in Dec with a 40% off code. It was great to walk to EPCOT and HS. Shot bus ride to MK and the pool was huge. We could see EPCOT fire works from our room. Stayed at the GF for 1nite and did not like it. Took DD to visit Poly once, in the lobby they kids doing tons of fun stuff, much better for kids then GF

If not, I vote for the Poly also. My fave of the three.

The theming of the Poly and GF really appeal to me but the rooms at GF look like they might be a little too "frilly" for my kids. The CR seems like a typical hotel to me although I didn't realize they are redoing the pool...Poly seems to be a favourite on these boards so I'm leaning towards it:goodvibes

We got a 40% code last year so stayed at the Poly. It was excellent and the kids loved it. What really made it great was the transportation options. It's on the monorail line, has a boat to MK, has its own buses, and is across the street from the TTC (an easy walk). When you want to go back to the Poly after a long day at the distant parks, you have lots of options for buses: take the Poly bus, the TTC bus (and walk across the steet) or the GF bus (and walk along the path between the GF & Poly). When coming back from Epcot on the monorail, we didn't even transfer to the MK mono line; it took about the same time to walk from the TTC to the Poly as it would have to walk down and up the mono ramps between the trains and travel that way (plus, go get the extra exercise walking as if you don't get enough in the parks already!)

I have stayed moderate once and deluxe twice when staying onsite. For us, we found the moderate to be comparable to budget properties when travelling and would never stay moderate again. The deluxe we have stayed at was AKL and if we were to stay onsite again, would be our resort of choice because it is the only property that provides an experience that we can not have elsewhere. The onsite experience we have enjoyed the most though is over at Universal where the benefits of staying at PBH are fantastic.

Our true preference is for timeshare properties offsite as they provide the resort amenities with the space our family needs.

My family and I have stayed at the Contemporary, Polynesian and Wilderness Lodge. Our favorite one is the Contemporary because of their very closr location to the Magic Kingdom, the walkway which goes there and their standard rooms are among the biggest of the Deluxe Resorts. As for the conventions they host it depends on the type so it could be a small one or a big one, however most of the times those guests would be in meetings so you don't really notice them.

Poly is great and has a great atmosphere for the kids. GF is "grand" very beautiful....maybe a good choice for that "once in a lifetime" experience (reg price 400 dollars plus per night). Deluxe resorts are a great experience...we are DVC members and now there is no looking back so to speak. We arrived early 2 years ago and stayed at POP for one night (before heading over to BWV). We had stayed at POP before and really enjoyed......but we are spoiled now....it felt really hectic compared to WWL, SSR, BWV and AKL. All the hotels you mentioned are awesome....there's no wrong answer lets put it that way:thumbsup2 It's a great dilemma to have!

Have stayed at them all except for Wilderness Lodge. Too much like Canada;)
My fave: Contemporary-- Least fave: Grand Floridian Stayed Concierge and that was awfully nice tho!

My 5 year old daughter LOVED the pool at the Poly and the water slide. She made so many friends there and at the beach -- esp for the fireworks at night. I found that people actually spent more time outside around the pool and beach than other Disney resorts we've been to.

She's always asking to go to the Hawaii resort! (We too went with our 40% off offer.)

How are you getting these offers these days? When I got mine, the CM told me about it when looking at my profile. I hadn't received notice of it...
