My Mom gave us her timeshare for our Sept. trip. Never stayed there before and have no idea what is in walking distance. Are there any places to buy some groceries or eat near by?

I haveseveral times. There is a 7-11 within a couple minutes walk. It is just on the corner. Del Taco is .2 miles away although we have never gone there. The Garden Walk is about half a mile away and has lots of places to eat. There is a neighborhood Walmart 1.3 miles away, a five minute car drive and my preferred place to get groceries but we generally have a car. There is also a Target 2.2 miles away that you can reach by the ART I believe. It is about 1/4 groceries and the rest is clothes, electronics ect. There is also a Vons 1.2 miles from the hotel and they do deliveries. It is my least favorite of the three because it costs more.

We were just there a couple of weeks ago. It was fine - not spectacular, but fine. The "suite" aspect of it is a little deceiving (our room was considerably smaller than it looked in the pictures online), but the kitchenette is certainly a nice feature. We had issues with housekeeping taking our coffee mugs and wine glasses and not bringing us new ones, but they came within a few minutes when we called. The vanity was nice and big - big enough for two men, two women, and a child to get ready in the morning without anyone being too much in the way. If you're going to have a car, be aware that it is 100% valet parking because parking is extremely limited. That was something we didn't expect, and it meant that we had to make sure calling for the car was part of our morning routine to ensure that we got out when we wanted to to make rope drop.

About how long did it take to get your car from valet in the morning?

We stayed there using my in-laws timeshare a few years ago. It was decent, and while walkable it was a LONG walk. There is an ART stop right out front though, which i would recommend using over moving your car to a DL parking lot.
We took advantage of staying that far away and tried to have dinner at restaurants in the Garden Walk most evenings.

I did love the pretty large mini fridge, and the whole kitchenette area which was stocked with plates, silverware, glasses, etc. It also had sponges and paper towels for cleanup. The "suite" is more like a split hotel room. Ours had the sofa bed in the living room where the kitchenette was, with 2 Queens in the "rear" part of the room....they were separated by a sliding door with transluscent glass, so light did go through from one room to the other.

All that said, I would not choose to stay there again UNLESS using my in-laws timeshare for free was the ONLY way we could make/afford the trip. It was just so far away...our last 2 trips it was so nice to return to staying at hotels on Harbor and making the quick walk across the street to DL.

If you do not have a car, I don't really think there is a walkable full-store for groceries...however if you have a stroller, you could go to one of the mini-marts in one of the hotels on Harbor and load up on water and snacks there on your walk back to the hotel one day (A1 market is decent, at the Grand Legacy). There is also a CVS underneath the Staybridge Suites. But if you need/want full grocery trip and you're without a car, I'd take a taxi to load up.

And a forewarning, they will pressure you at check in (and leave several messages) trying to get you to attend their "free breakfast" with timeshare presentation. we didn't want to waste valuable sleep or park time so we politely declined the offer, but they were persistent!!
