Anyone stayed at the Caribe Royale

We are planning a spontaneous trip to WDW since we got great airfare thanks to Ding. We stayed at POFQ during our last trip and really enjoyed it, unfortunately it was booked full. We have booked the Caribe Royale thanks to the Mousesavers reviews and rates. It looks like a great resort but I'm a little concerned about transportation to the parks. Has anyone stayed there? Any comments.

I have been staying at the Caribe for the past ten years and it is by far my favorite off disney property hotel. They have just finished remodeling it and it is very comfortable. We get it with a AAA rate for about $113 a night.
The pool is very large and they also have a kiddie pool and jungle gym. Everything is so convenient and nearby and that is the reason we have always stayed there because we have kids and the pool is in the center with the towers in a circle facing the pool so with kids you don't have to walk miles to get to the pool. The food is kind of expensive so we just had breakfast in the deli and lunch out by the pool. It is right down the street from disney. It takes probably less than 10 minutes. Any specific questions let me know....

So transportation to the parks won't be a problem? Can we walk anywhere fun? How about Downtown Disney? Is there a certain area that we should request our room. Thanks so much for the help.

There isn't much within walking distance and the bus schedule is limited. I wouldn't stay there, or almost any other offsite hotel, without a car. I don't think a rental car will be that much more than the airport transfers will be.

We've stayed in that area (and will be back there next trip) and LOVE it!! YOu are only a mile or so to DTD. We didn't go that way to the parks, though, because of all of the traffic lights.

I don't think anything is really walking distance.

I have heard a lot of good things about this resort. The pool looks awesome.

Because I only live a couple of hours from disney I always have my car so I can't tell you about their bus service to disney. DTD is about 5-7 minutes away and there is an outlet mall down the street. There is nowhere to walk except across from the hotel there is a drugstore and gas station and a ponderosa. All of the towers are for different people. I think tower 1 is for families and tower 2 is for families and tower 3 is for business people. We usually stay in tower 1. That is closest to the main lobby but it really doesn't matter which tower you stay in because like I said everything is in a circle so walking is minimal. Beautiful resort and I am a picky person and I always seem to keep coming back to this resort.
