HAS ANYONE STAYED AT THIS HOTEL, IF SO COULD YOU PLEASE LET US KNOW WHAT YOU THOUGHT OF IT HONESTLY. THANKS

Hi there

I would like to start by saying welcome on board, I should imagine you will get any questions you could possibly think of answered on this board and the folk are all really friendly.

We have stayed in this hotel twice and are returning in September so I suppose we must have liked it ;)

Both times we have stayed in the tower block. There are also rooms near the swimming pool but we loved the view from the rooms in the tower block.

We found the hotel staff very friendly and the location ideal. There are various restaurants just a walk away if you don't want to drive.

I loved our room in this hotel we were facing Universal and could watch all the lights on International Drive and beyond at night. I suppose if you weren't too keen on heights you may prefer one of the rooms nearer the pool. It was so central for eating and shopping that I felt the car was not required all the time.

If there is anything else you would like to know about the hotel just ask away but it certainly gets the thumbs up from me!

I am staying here in September also. Can I ask.....

Do you automatically get a tower room, when you book with Virgin ? Also are there interior corridors or exterior ? ( I know a strange question, but we had a bad experience at the Village Inn once.)

As our daughter will be with us and only 2 years old, we'll be in our rooms a lot of evenings, are there premium movie channels available on the tv ?

How big are the rooms ?

Thanks

Kev.

Hi there

on our first trip we were allocated a room by the pool but I didn't really like it because although we were told it was a first floor room, that is on the ground floor - if you know what I mean. I didn't want a ground floor room so we asked if we could be moved and they moved us to the tower.

The second time we went (both times with BA) I sent them an email and requested a tower room and this was no problem. They were very obliging.

Now my 'kids' were 14 and 16 when we went last so the height was no problem to us. The tower block although 12 floors high was built like a court yard, if you stood outside your door and looked up you could see the sky.

The room itself was huge and we certainly had lots of room considering it was 4 adults (kind off). There was an iron and ironing board which I am happy to say I never used, a fridge, microwave and coffee maker. Oh what happy memories a fridge full of scoobie snax and that wonderful view at night!

There was definately a pay per view movie channel because my DH managed to buy the Flintstones movie Viva Las Vegas - oh well I suppose it could have been worse LOL.

Now probably like everything else this is just my opinion and maybe someone else would prefer the other rooms round the pool, it certaily wouldn't do if we all like the same thing.

I'm glad there is someone else going in September I was starting to think it was only us;)

Hope this helps.

Helen

Thanks for your help

I always visit in September, imho the best time as most kids are back at school, its still hot and not at all crowded.

The Holiday Inn is a very good choice, excellent location, pool, and room size being it's best features. The tower rooms are definitely the best.
Try the search feature, as there has been a lot of previous threads regarding this hotel.

Kev.

Are you the same Kevin Harrison, also from Nottingham, who posts on the Stone Pony board. If you are I am the guy who nearly had your spare Wembley ticket!

If you aren't you won't have the foggiest idea what I am on about!!

Either way, I would be happy to answer any questions you have about the Holiday Inn.

Barry.

Oops I think I forgot to send you an email Kev - sorry bout that.

OK to make sure I had a Tower room (I had already made this request on my original booking) - I rang the hotel the night before I travelled and requested this you can also request a King at the same time if you wish. I think the rooms in the Tower are better and bigger.

I've stayed in a room by the pool the first time and I was not disappointed at all for the first time but when I went again and stayed in the Tower I was "wow". Kev, the room was huge :)

I really love this hotel for an off-site choice. Excellent location and very good facilities. The hotel restaurant is good quality for breakfast but you can just pop across the road for the breakfast buffet at Ponderosa which is a quarter of the price and much more choice.

All the staff are very friendly and offer great service. I really love the pool as well and it has a hot tub/spa by the pool.

IMO a great off-site choice :)

Stayed there twice now and we find it very good. Would definitely recommend Tower rooms though, on our first visit we had a pool room and immediately complained, it was small and not very comfortable, moved to a Tower room and it was big and airy, thoroughly enjoyable. Didn't eat at the hotel restaurant because there are so many choices out and about but the bar was nice and John the barman was excellent. Pool is nice with poolside bar as well. For the price it is good value.

thanks everybody our minds are at rest nowbut if anybody wants to know about the allstars resorts we will be pleased to help,
danny

Barry,

Yes it is me. I remember you, did you manage to get a ticket in the end ? I imagine you did.

What a small world we live in eh ?

Just tell me evrything about the hotel. I read there is a Ponderosa accross the street, is that correct ?

Kev.

Hello Kev!

Small world indeed!

Yes thanks, I did manage to get a Wembley ticket. If you
remember I was driving down with my three friends from
Nottingham. We enjoyed the show so much that a few
weeks later we just had to go and see the three Florida
shows (Bruce and the Mouse ... an unbeatable combination!)

Re - the Holiday Inn, you should be really happy with your choice.
I have stayed at quite a lot of I-drive hotels and found this one
to be second only to the excellent Rosen Centre. Tower rooms
are very roomy and well equipped. The view over I-drive is
fantastic - ask for a high floor. The pool area is very large
with a nice pool side bar. The Ponderosa is bang opposite the
hotel and is one of the best Ponderosas I have been to in
Orlando. There is also a Sizzler just a bit further up, indeed there are lots of restaurants within walking distance of the hotel.

If you are driving - access to I4 is easy from here and Universal is only 5 mins, just make a left out of the hotel, left again on
Universal Boulevard and you are there.

Any more specific questions please feel free to e-mail me.

Regards Barry.

(It's a small, small world!)

We stayed there a few years ago and really liked it. The pool complex is great and it is in a good location.

We had a tower room (through Virgin) which had great views of universal. Rooms were a pretty good size, staff were friendly and efficient. Definately had cable movies and, a video with movies to rent at the store in the lobby.

Highly reccomended from us!

Holiday Inn's in our experience have always been good.

Cannot remember where our room was, but generally the facilities are excellent and the pool area in particular is great.

For us though we have tried to move away from the I-drive area and look for somewhere quieter, that would be the only problem -the location. It can get very busy traffic wise, particularly in the evening, and there are tacky little discount stores all over the place.
Great for restaurants and if you do not hire a car but just not for us anymore - Hence we would not stay there again -sorry.

Rosen Centre at the the other end of I-Drive is a much better hotel in a better location too.

In truth once you have hired a Villa there is no going back to Hotels - although I do miss a cool Budweiser sat at the Rosen Centre Bar in the evening!
