Have any of you ever stayed at Geronimo RV park? It's either in or near Destin. We are looking for someplace in the area to stay for just 2 nights in July, and everything seems to be booked everywhere else (Henderson State Park, Camping on the Gulf, etc.). They have availability for the two nights that we need but so far all of the camping friends that I have asked don't know anything about it. Have any of you heard anything...good or bad?

Never heard of it. Did you try Topsail hill? It is a FL state park and is wonderful. Best kept secret. Depending on your days of the week you may find it hard to get availability. But we stay there for 1-2 weeks every summer right when school gets out.

The couple that we bought our RV from also recommended Topsail. They loved it. When I tried to book it online, it shows a ton of site available, but says that they are Walk-up Only. I'm afraid to drive that far of a distance and then find out there aren't any campsites available. I might try calling them this afternoon and see if they might let me book something over the phone.

Oh, yes...Topsail FOR SURE. We leave to go there on Saturday for nine wonderful days. That is my second favorite place in the world, WDW being my fave of course!
It's close to Destin, not too far from I-10, and you can't beat all the "touristy" things to do along Scenic 30-A.

minnie&mickey did you get a ressie at topsail? If you go, you need to scope out the area and write down the sites you like so that when you return (and you will) you will know which ones to book. BUT, you have to book waaayyy in advance. We go every year and book as soon as the 11 month window opens. There's also Grayton beach state park, Henderson state park if topsail does not have anything.

No, we weren't able to get a reservation. I also tried Grayton Beach and Henderson State Park and the only thing they had were walkups. I don't want to drive that far only to find out that there aren't any campsites left. We still aren't sure what we are going to do. Geronimo gets good reviews, but it doesn't appear that there are any trees to provide shade. Do you know anything about Rocky Bayou State Park? We can get a site there.
