Anyone stayed at Doubletree resort at DD??

We are thinking of using the Doubletree Resort at Downtown Disney next year and just wondering if anyone has ever stayed there and what their thoughts were on it???

My family of 5 stayed there 3 years ago. We liked it! It seemed close to everything. We walked to downtown Disney. The pool was nice, the rooms were fine. Any specific questions?

For some reason, besides POLY, this is my favorite place on property. Stayed here probably five or six times. First Stay was back in 1992 when it was called Guest Quarters. My brother and I last stayed here on Aug 2005. All rooms are suites. It has a small kitchen with mircowave, fridge, sink, A small table for four. The sofa can become a bed for two, desk. Onto the next room. Two queen sized beds, dresser, Three TV's (one in the bathroom). Very clean, check-in is usually very fast, can walk to DTD and the crossroads to pick up anything (Goody's). The only thing that gets me mad is the bus route when going to the parks. Doubletree is the first stop and has to make its way around the other hotels, but other than that, love the hotel, and also very quiet.

That is exactly the kind of info I was looking for. We are limited to Hilton properties because we have Hilton Honors points and were able to stay off property a few weeks ago for FREE and why pay to stay somewhere when you can stay for free. We were looking to stay on property next year though. Thanks for your help.

I just booked one night at the Doubletree Suites using Hilton Honors points for next March...before our three night stay at OKW using our DVC points (didn't want to use those precious Saturday night points!!!!) I stayed there once 3 years ago and thought it was great and met our needs. Not fancy but it was clean and convenient and the suite was VERY spacious! Have read pretty bad reviews on Travelocity, etc. so hopefully we won't regret our decision. Oh, well, it's only one night and is basically free, so I guess I can deal with it! (Be sure you are booking DOUBLETREE SUITES, not DOUBLETREE CLUB...they are both close to Downtown Disney area but SUITES is the closest)

I just got an excellent price for the Doubletree Suites for next September. $89 per night. So I booked it through Mousesavers.com. Thanks Mousesavers!!

It also includes a free breakfast daily. Not sure if it is continental or what. Does anyone know?

A funny thing I booked it for the last week in Sept. and when I checked for the first week in October (a week later) the price went up to $139 per night.

Not sure about breakfast at this particular hotel but at all other Hampton Inns I've stayed at, breakfast was actually pretty nice. When we went to Disney in November we stayed at a different hotel but still a Hampton Inn (and all others we have stayed at in the past) we had eggs and sausage one morning, pancakes one day, waffles one day. There is always cereal, bagels, fruit, yogurt. It's not bad especially for free.

We've stayed there several times and have always been happy. We'll be staying there again this month. Apparently, the suites have had a lot of improvements, read it at Mousesavers.com. Also, got a good rate.

The continental breakfast includes everything that is cold, not any hot foods. Their breakfast buffet is one of the best I've had, so you won't be disappointed. If I recall correctly, you can upgrade to the full buffet breakfast for an extra $3, that was the price last year. I can update about that when we get back.

We like this hotel because the suites are spacious and with a family of 5, we need that.

Our family of 5 stayed here for NOJ w/e in Sept and it worked well for us. Yes, the bfast is only the cold foods-bagels, pastries, breads, fruits, cereals-more than we might actually eat at home, tho. Had a run-in with the waitstaff when we tried to use our mousesavers coupon for dinner; the silly waiter insisted that we all had to eat from the child buffet to get the discount?! and the mgr backed him up. Too bizarre! Kitchenette very helpful, also had 3 tvs(little b&w by potty-kids thought was cool.) Beautiful pool. Transportation took forever-we drove everywhere. My husband actually booked the 4 day timeshare deal they offered us before we checked out-stay there for 4 nights for $100 total if you listen to the timeshare deal at their new place. Anyone done that?

Thanks! I would appreciate this information. I have been wanting to go back to WDW for almost three years now and am so excited about our trip. It is just my DH and I, but I thought that we would still appreciate the extra room. We will also be driving down or renting a car if we fly, so we will not have to rely on DTD transportation.

Does anyone have any information on the pool or a picture of it? I can't find one anywhere.

Yes, plenty of parking. You have to enter the hotel to get to the rooms.

We stayed there in September and it is my favorite hotel! We just returned from POR and my dh said never again. We regretted not booking at the Doubletree. The space is great and the beds are wonderful. The location can't be beat!

Ok, we are back! Here's the update on upgrading to full breakfast buffet...

Ok, it seems like the prices to upgrade to full buffet (includes all hot food items, which included an omelet station) are $7 per adult and $6 per child. I said "it seems" because the servers decided how many meals we would be charged for. For instance, our first morning having breakfast, our server said that because we were so nice, he wouldn't charge us for the upgrade. We ate our breakfast at the bar because there were no tables available that accommodated the 5 of us. The following morning, we were charged for one adult and one child's breakfast upgrade, even though all of us ate hot foods. Of course, my 7 and 10 yr. old insisted on eating Mickey waffles, bacon, eggs, but ended up eating practically nothing. Another morning, we were charged for 5 upgrades. This morning, we were charged for 4 upgrades, as DD only had a bagel and juice (continental breakfast) . So, the server seems to determine how many upgrades you will charged for.

The continental breakfast is definitely enough though. There are different breads and pastries to choose from. Also lots of fresh fruit (very good), cold cereals and also oatmeal. You also get a beverage of your choice. I hope that answers your questions regarding breakfast. Have fun!

Thanks for the update! It still sounds like a pretty good deal, I will be fine with the cold stuff but my DH may want to upgrade to the hot stuff. Maybe we will get a "nice" server who won't charge us!

Can you tell us about the hotel and if it was clean and in good shape, service, etc........

Everything was clean and in good shape. The room was perfect, they have upgraded the beds, new furniture in living room, new fridge (kept our water/ drinks very cold) & new countertop. There is new landscaping around the hotel, probably due to last year's hurricanes. The staff was friendly and helpful. It was a very good stay, no complaints and we'll definitely stay there again.

DH has gold or plus status on his Hilton Honors card which gives him upgrades to Executive level rooms (conceirge) etc depending on the type of resort.

Does this hotel have Executive level ? If not does anyone know what the upgrade offer would be to him here ?
