Anyone stayed at Clarion lately?

My inlaws called today and said there is a deal in their paper for the Clarion for $79 a night, free parking, free hot breakfast if you stay 3 nights. They wanted to know if I knew anything about it. I didn't off the top of my head and I tried searching the forums and didn't come up with much.

They are active seniors but I'm still thinking that walk looks like too much after all day at the parks. Looks to long to me and I'm a walker. Has anyone walked it and if so how long? Does ART go there and is it easy to use? Is driving from there easy?

I haven't stayed there, but we have friends that stayed there. They said it was fine for their purposes. They have a dog and they allow pets there. It is definitely too far to walk. They drove their car and parked it at the park each day. I don't know the ART schedule for that hotel.

When I asked her if they liked the hotel, she said the price was right at the last minute, but you get what you pay for. (so this wasn't exactly a glowing review, but not terrible). I have heard that you can typically get this hotel via priceline for much less than the 79.00 per night your inlaws would pay. It is listed as a 3 star hotel, but it should probably be rated a 2 star. It is ranked pretty far down the list as far as a hotel in anaheim.

I personally would encourage your inlaws either to pay a bit more and stay closer, or stay at a hotel that has a dedicated hotel shuttle like the Sheraton, Hilton, or Hyatt.

I stayed there in 2009 and there is nothing wrong with the hotel, but you're right it is toooooooo far to walk! I am in my late 20's and an athlete and pretty much wanted to die by the end of our 3-day trip. The one thing I'd suggest now that I didn't know about then is to maybe use the Toy Story parking lot's free shuttle. The TS lot is across from Clarion.

Thanks for your responses. I was thinking that you have to add on the cost to park at DLR if you drive or cost of taxi or whatever. That might make something else like you suggested a better deal.

They are not computer people so they wouldn't use Priceline. I'll check out some of those other hotels for them too.

I was wondering about the TS lot too but didin't know if they opened it first thing in the morning. If not, they would still have to walk to DLR.

We stayed at the Clarion last July.

Hotel wise you get what you pay for. It's really not too bad.

It's an easy walk. No more than 10 minutes. We found it quicker to walk most days than to wait for the resort bus, although most nights we caught the bus back for safety reasons.

Aw, you used your first post to answer my question! :goodvibes

Welcome to the Disboards! :yay:

Did you take the ART bus back at night?

I have to respectfully challenge your 10 minute walk. If you use mapmyrun it was 1.1 miles from the hotel door to the entrance gates. I haul butt when I walk and, again, am athletic and 10 min. would really be pushing it. Even if they are "active seniors" as the OP said, there's just no way.

OP, the TS lot opens when the park opens. It is not an overflow lot but rather a second parking option that's always open.

Lol thank you I am soooo excited to be here! I love Disneyland. Being in Australia though we have only managed to make it there twice.

Yep we caught the resort bus back at night. I think we paid $4 a day for a bus pass although half the time the driver didn't even ask for it.

Maybe us Aussies walk extra fast lol. I just checked with my dad and he said he thought it was around 10 minutes as well.

I had thought our walk from CCI was about 7 min but others had told me it was a little longer. So this trip I'm going to time it! :rotfl2: I'm a fast walker too but maybe I was just more excited in the morning. I'm going to check both ways. I do know I don't care to walk any further though!

Now that you are posting, that will really make you want to come back. (off topic, I know, but are planning a trip? :goodvibes )
