I was just curious if anyone has stayed there? What are the pools like? Are they locked where you need a key to enter?

I know the pool in the LM area is key accessible only. I wish they were all like that, throughout WDW. Sure would make it harder for those not staying at a resort to poach space at the pools!!!
I like AoA. Stayed there in Dec, in a LM room. Going back in two months, again in a LM room.

We stayed there back in December. I really like the resort. The food court was great, the decor was so colorful and fresh! The pools are very similar to the other valve resorts with some extra touches. The Nemo pool has a splash area and the Cars pool has the cone "cabanas." When we were there the pool fences were open but it was also December and a little chilly for most people to be swimming.

We <3 AOA!! We stayed there in September in a Cars Suite. The grounds are adorable, there is something awesome everywhere you look. The pools were great for the preschool-elementary crowd. The nemo pool is zero entry, the spray park right behind it is super fun and they also have a little playground inside the nemo pool area. The cars pool is also very neat. There are cone cabanas, but you do have to get there pretty early in the day to secure one.

Thanks everyone. We really wanted to stay there this time but it was above our price range. The kids saw the pool in pictures and we just wanted to go there and walk around and take pictures by all the neat things they have outside (not to swim, we know thats now allowed) wasnt sure if we are even allowed to walk around and look but we do plan on staying there next time so I really wanted to be able to look around!

I am super excited about going in July. We are staying in Little Mermaid section. This is our first on-site stay. :goodvibes

We looooovvvveeedddddddddddd it! Very bright and colorful, great pools, great theming in the rooms... It is so much fun with children to stay there!

You definitely can go to the hotels to look around. This one is worth a trip because they did such a fantastic job with all the decorating. We always have one day of our trip a "hotel" day - we just roam from place to place, try lunch at a different place, and have a relaxing day.

Most of the great things by the pools (Mr. Ray, Crush, etc) are outside the gated pool area. Lots to take pictures of since the pools are gated.

Oh cool thanks thats what I was wondering!
When I stayed there, back in Dec, we didn't swim. But I have some terrific photos of all sorts of terrific things around the resort. You are free to walk around and take photos and play on the stuff that isn't actually in the pool area...and there is a fair amount of stuff available!!!
Have a ball....but be careful, once your kids see it, they may start begging to stay there.

We were there in January or a week

And while they have fences around the pools none I them were liked or required your room key to get in

Either they were broken or left open

The Little Mermaid rooms AR very similar to any of the value resorts (pop century, the all star resorts) the only difference being they have all Little Mermaid decorations. The shower decorations are really phenomenal. The decor is something only Disney would think of. It was really a great experience for us when we stayed there.
