This will be our 1st trip to Disney just want to know what to expect? rooms nice I have reserved a preffered room. any tips or advice will greatly be appreciated..Thanks

okay Pop Century is one of the few hotels that you don't want a preferred room.

a Preferred view means you will be in the 60's....

the 60's by far get the most complaints. If they put you in the one near the main pool it will be noisy.

the toilets are loud...but if you can get a room in the 50's or 70's you will definitely enjoy it more...than the 60's....

the 60's are the only preferred rooms at Pop Century.

that say several hundred of us diser's have stayed here. Most love it - but some hate it!!!

here are some pictures

Hope you have fun. We stayed at the Pop Century and I think the preferred location would be nice. It is bright and fun. Rooms are small with double beds. Large food court, shops and 2 or 3 pools. They have their own buses. It is the newest Value. Cindy

We just stayed there in Dec & having stayed at AS Movies & Port Orleans, this was our least favorite. I didn't care for the theming (ASMovies was full when we changed our dates) & for as little as we are at the hotel with an almost 4 year old, the value resorts serve their purpose. The food court was ok, but didn't seem to have the variety each day that we remembered ASMo having. The ASMo definiately feels more "Disney" - especially if you have kids or you are a kid at heart :goodvibes

The rooms were clean, but we were on the 1st floor & it was noisy at all hours in the 70's building. The pool seemed ok - didn't use it or the laundry facilities. Personally didn't care for the fact that you have to walk through the gift shop to get to the food court, but just my 2 cents!

As long as you're at Disney & you have a hot shower & clean bed to sleep in... you can HAVE FUN!

We love the 60s!!!

We just got back last week from an 8 day stay at POP (our 3rd trip to POP).
We would not get anything but the 60s...we always seem to get poolside, without even asking...very close to the main building.

We never have had a noise problem.

We have stayed at POP several times and it is GREAT!!! We also stayed at AS Sports a couple weeks ago and it was no comparison! POP is a lot cleaner and has great bus service. We will be going back there in a couple of weeks. The food court has a bigger selection and the food is really good. You will have a great time!

We also just returned from an 8 night stay at POP...we had a GREAT time!! We were in the 80's section on the first floor...other than hearing the shower occasionally we had NO noise problems at all. Actuall our stay at a Residence Inn on the way down was noiser & it cost more than POP. I think you will be pleased with your choice!!

I am already trying to figure out a time for us to go back and we will definitely stay there again.

We will stay for 8 nights beginning Feb. 24th. We have stayed at the Allstar Movies the past two times and the last time I really noticed that it wasn't as clean as the first time. :sad2: Our air didn't work in our room and I had to go through 3 CM and 2 Managers until we were finally moved to another room. :furious: They did reimburse us for the first 2 nights but it was after I complained that the treatment wasn't as "Disney" as it should have been. My sister and her family stayed at the Pop right after it opened and loved it. I am excited about our upcoming trip. :yay:

Well, this will be my second post tonight on the same subject so I'll be repeating myself, but as you can tell from my signature, I've stayed at PC several times, and I love it. :cheer2: I haven't stayed at the All Stars, but I've visited, and like PC's theming better. Having stayed at PC. I really have no desire to go to the All Stars. :confused3 It's newer, and has it's own bus stop; while the lines can be long, buses do seem to appear pretty quickly. While you can walk thru the gift shop to get to the food court, you don't have to, there are other entrances. ::yes:: I found the food court choices to be pretty good, and when I [43] went for a week in October '05 with my mother [70], sister [41], three nephews [18,13,and 8] and niece [16], everyone was able to find something to their liking every time we ate there, which was at least once pretty much every day. My 8 year old nephew had great fun being able to walk inside a yo-yo and a bowling pin [there are stairs inside those big icons at the ends of the buildings!], and loves all the big 'statues', like Baloo and Mowgli from The Jungle Book, the Mickey Mouse rotary-dial phone, the hugmonus Play-Doh container, Roger Rabbit, and Lady and the Tramp. And even my know-it-all 18 year old nephew, :rolleyes2 and my hard-to-please niece princess: were both quite impressed by Disney's version of a value resort. I'm sure the All-Stars have their charms, but when I stay at a value, it's going to be POP Century!

You'll love Pop. I just returned from my fourth stay. My fav section is the 90's, but I'm in the minority. Top floor, parking lot view. Most quiet section. Even slept 13 hours one day due to the most comfy bed! Have stayed in the 50's, 70's, 80's and 90's. Would like to hit the final era (60's) but will not pay the preferred rate. I'll be back soon to stay in the 90's again! Enjoy - you'll have a wonderful time!

PS ~ almost forgot...I've gotten the preferred rooms almost every time I've booked there, the times when I've had my mother and/or sister with me, because both have mobility problems, so I didn't want them to have to walk from [say] the 80's/90's [which was the first decade I stayed in!]. To me, it's worth the extra money to make sure I get rooms close to the main building. I suppose if you have rooms facing the pool [which is so cute, btw!] it might be noisy, but I've requested [and gotten, every time since!] rooms on the 4th floor, facing the fireworks, and those are on the other side of the Play-doh building. ;) So, not only is it quieter, you can see the fireworks from hmmm, Epcot, I think, at about 9. :teeth:

We stayed at Pop right after it opened, in Dec 2004, for 2 weeks in 2 connecting rooms. We were in the 60's bldg, top floor far side from pool. No real noise issues, no noisy bathrooms. We had a great time there. Great mousekeeping, good food, lots of fun!!! :thumbsup2
We've stayed at ASMovies and thought the theming was nice but preferred the cleanliness of POP. And we've stayed at POFQ and really enjoyed that resort as well. And this coming Christmas we will be staying for 2 weeks again but not sure where!! :teeth: Maybe 2 rooms POR or 2 rooms POP. It may depend on AP rates.

I think you will love POP!!

I stayed at Pop for one night before changing rooms to WL. The room was very clean, but I could hear the man snoring in the room next to us. Another time I stayed at Music and I could hear the woman next door telling her kids to go to sleep! I'm staying at pop again for one night this Friday (!), but changing the next day to AKL. I personally can not stand to hear people in the next room for a week!

I agree with spiceycat on what they said. We stayed at the 50's Building last year and we loved it. It was a little longer walk to the lobby area and to the bus stop but that didn't bother us at all. We have already requested the same room this year. We were lakeside, not poolside. On the poolside, you will have a lot more noise. On the Lakeside, you will have more quite and you will have the ability to watch the fireworks from Illuminations. On a clear night, you can also see the fireworks from Wishes. It is awesome to watch them at the same time. Now that is a fireworks spectacular!! :thumbsup2

You know, that is so odd; I've seen people post here they could hear people in other rooms, but outside of the occasional bathroom flush when I was in there at the same time, the only noises I've heard were outside ~ people going in and out of their rooms, maybe a kid or two running on the walkway outside... I really haven't been disturbed by any noises coming from the rooms around me. While most of my stays have only been overnights or 2 nights, I did stay a week, and really didn't have a problem. :confused3

we loved POP
we stayed there in dec and it was awesome
agree about the rooms
ask for the 50s dont pay the extra $$ not worth it

Having stayed at one Value priced property and then one mid level (POR), the little extra cast fro mid payed off. Value resorts get the shaft when it comes to bus service. They can be few and far between. Especially at busy times of day or at peak vacationing season. As far as the actual room, we spent so little time there it made no difference. Just loved the extra outside amenities at POR. Bike rental along river path. Cane pole fishing. Many, many pools. Fine dining, plus food court on sight. etc etc

The bus service was great for us at Pop in January. Better than ASMusic in '03.

The big difference is that Pop is the largest WDW resort, so it gets dedicated busses, whereas the AS resorts share. With about 7 1/2 days of getting around, most bus waits were well under ten minutes, with only a couple longer than that. I'm not sure if we ever had to wait 20 minutes... maybe once.
