Has anyone stayed @DoubleTree Suites at WDW?? I got a good rate for the first week of May for $99 a night. I want to know what everyone's opinion was on this property. I am stuck between staying here or staying at the Swan for $147 a night...Please help!!!!!

My son and I stayed there for four nights last year and were quite satisfied with the room and the service. We did not use the hotel transportation to the park so I can't comment on that. My son stayed in the living room area and had his own tv. I had the bedroom. The whole suite was clean and I would not hesitate to stay there again.

I stayed here 3 years ago, and I did not like it. The beds were uncomfortable. It was clean, however I expected better. I didn't care for the bright pink colors and the interior. My daughter had an ear infection in the middle of the night, and I went to run her a bath at 2:00 am and the hotel had turned off the hot water. For the swan, I have stayed at the Dolphin 2 times and I love it! You can walk to either Epcot or MGM and the property is beautiful. The swan and the dolphin share property and pools and it is lovely. It is also fun to walk to the boardwalk for icecream or food. I would take the swan any day over the doubletree. Just my opinion.

This is a good rate for the Doubletree. However I would be very tempted to take the Swan at $147 instead and recommend you do so if you can afford it. You will have to pay a $10 resort fee at the Swan (unless you've already included that).

The Doubletree is OK, it's best feature being that the rooms are enormous, about 600 sq ft. (This is more than 200 sq ft bigger than what you will get at the Swan.) You get two double beds and a sleeper couch. The furnishings are nothing special, not as nice as you'd see in an Embassy Suites. But you do get a cheap microwave, mini-fridge and sink. As with all the Downtown Disney hotels, the landscaping is very nice and the parking is free and more than adequate. (I recommend you have a rental car if you stay there.) It's an average 3-star hotel, not the best Doubletree I've seen, but a good value at this rate. The Swan is definitely 4-star.

I find it ominous that somebody else mentioned problems with hot water as I also experienced problems when I was there (Nov 2002). No hot water for most of a day -- they said the boiler was out, and hot water did return eventually. But it may be continuing problem.
