Anyone stay at the Candy Cane Inn?

I like the look of this place, fits out budgets as we are cruising and then touring San Diego area so we are looking at 3+ weeks of travelling. Has anyone stayed here? I like it as it looks staggering distance from Disneyland, offers brekkie and gets good reviews on Trip Advisor but I'd really like some Disboard member opinions.

We need somewhere quiet (we have no traffic noise whatsoever at our house, so used to quiet rather than living near busy roads), walkable, clean and comfortable.

Ideally I'd have liked a two bedroom apartment but I can't find one walking distance close to Disneyland and the Candy Cane Inn looks very cute. We'll be travelling with two nearly five year olds in late Sept/Oct 2012. Any suggestions or advice would be welcome - we are going to be doing three days (four nights). Thank you.

I cannot say enough great things about the Candy Cane Inn. The location is ideal and the rooms perfect. The pool and hot tub are wonderful after a day of touring. Our room, while basic, was clean, well appointed and just plain nice. Breakfast, while carb central, is fine for vacation. I LOVE the Candy Cane. Have fun!!!!!

We love the CCI! It has free parking, free shuttle, free breakfast and it's within walking distance. The breakfast isn't fancy but it's much better than the usual free hotel breakfasts and there are lots of choices. I love that it's on the same side of the street as DLR so you don't have to cross Harbor if you walk over. I also think it's one of the nicest looking hotels along Harbor. It's really just a 2 story motel but they've done a great job landscaping it to make it look nice. I've heard some people complain that the rooms are too small but we've never had a problem with the room size.

We stayed at the CCI 3 or 4 years ago and loved it! Our party had 9 people ranging in age from 18 months to 88 years old. The staff was great in moving my grandmother into a ground level room since the stairs were too difficult. While the rooms were small, they were very clean and comfortable. Our kids loved the kiddie pool and the breakfast, while basic, was perfect for us. The real selling point was the shuttle - it was never crowded and always on time.

Have a nice vacation wherever you decide to stay!

We've stayed there, it is nice. We prefer to be closer to the main gate and can find places where we are just as happy and closer for less money but the CCI was a nice hotel and they take good care of you.

The Candy Cane used to be our standard place to stay and we were always very happy with it.

The pool is great for kids, they are definitely within walking distance (although it can be a bit long at the end of a full day), but they also have a great shuttle service.

All in all there is nothing negative that I can say about the Candy Cane.

I'm the one who wrote the review of CCI in the link. That was based on our first stay there last summer. We returned in Nov. and again a few weeks ago. When you check out they give you a coupon good for $10 off per night on your next stay. That and the AAA discount made our room rate for mid July $129 a night which we thought to be very reasonable for a place with free breakfast, free shuttle, free parking, comfy beds, and walking distance from DLR.

Anyway, we still like it.

We love CCI. You can't go wrong staying there.
