Anyone stay at Orlando Airport Hyatt night before cruise?

Another vote for the Hyatt. Stayed there with 2 teen boys in a Junior Suite last year the night before our cruise and everyone was happy. The kids loved being able to have their pick of breakfast choices in the morning from the food court (Krispy Kreme for one, Chick-Fil-A for the other), and then we meandered down to the bus pick-up. The best part was that we wound up on the first bus to port - which then set us up for being able to snag an awesome stateroom upgrade. That wasn't a benefit I anticipated when we chose to stay at the Hyatt!

There is only a King room available on the night before our cruise...it will be me, DH, and DS17. The info page says a roll-away bed is available...will that be an OK fit for my 5'10" DS? Is there an extra charge?

TIA.

Well, I looked at pricing today, and it was crazy expensive! I got a rate of $95 for the Hampton Inn Gateway by MCO, however, now reading this thread and seeing how effortless the Hyatt seems , perhaps it is worth the extra money just to ensure peace of mind with transfer of luggage, etc....also we are flying in quite late from Edmonton, Alberta it might be worth it to not have to worry about finding the shuttle to an outside hotel and then dragging luggage back in the morning. hmmm. maybe I will bite the bullet and pay the price!

How late is the main desk open? If we fly in the day before, it will get us into MCO late at night.

Love the Hyatt at MCO! First year flew in day of cruise, I was so tired by the time we got on the ship I said never again, Cue next trip flew into MCO, stayed at Hyatt ate at food court outsi of security for am breakfast, went and met our private transfer and calmly drove to the port, I barley remember that let which means it was easy! I book far in advance for the best rate. This year we are driving since we now live less than 6 hours from the port and staying by the port the night before. For me the extra money saved was not worth the inconceivence of leaving the airport.

It's been a while but I stayed at the Hyatt Orlando the night before my cruise (2009). It was my first cruise. I don't remember who picked up my luggage but I do remember putting tags on my luggage that night once they were in my room. They were picked up the next morning and appeared in my stateroom on the Wonder. Swam in the rooftop pool and had dinner at one of their fancy restaurants (I was starved). The room was clean and spacious, the staff was very helpful and friendly, and I agree about checking out where the buses pick you up the next morning. I don't think it was until 10am. I paid the special DCL rate back then.

We've been doing this for the past 3 yrs, (3 cruises haha) and it is FANTASTIC.
Land, grab luggage, check in. My mother and I usually grab a bite from chili's if it's not busy and then chill in the room.
Morning of the cruise, I hate to say, I'm too much of a paranoid to have others remember to grab my bags, so I do in fact bring them down to the buses myself. To me, I find that to be easier because it gives me a piece of mind. If my luggage somehow doesn't make it to the ship, I will know for a fact it is Disney's doing and not a toss-up between the Hyatt and Disney.

It truly isn't that hard to bring luggage down either depending on how much you have. We go down a little early, sit and wait for the queue to open, and my mother goes to check us in, and I go to bring the bags outside. =)

I am just saying this to give an option in case anyone is like me. A weirdo. LOL. o_O

We are planning to go on our first cruise next year and will stay at the Hyatt for piece of mind. I agree with what you said about the luggage. So I will take my luggage down too so you are not the only weirdo. LOL.

oh YAY! Haha. Well, first of all CONGRATS on your first DCL cruise!!!! You will have loads of fun (obviously lol).
Second, I would STILL tell the Hyatt that you are cruising Disney upon chec-kin, that way you will receive a map on how to get downstairs to the Disney Transfer Bus check-in desk. BUTTTTT don't bother filling out the paperwork they give you for the luggage, and don't bother telling the CMs when you check in that you stayed at the Hyatt since your luggage won't be in the room anyway. :yay:

Have a FANTASTIC trip!

Thank you! :-)

We did this when we took our cruise a few years back. Pricey, but so easy and convenient. Beautiful hotel!

Okay, what kind of room should I book at the MCO Hyatt if there are 3 adults traveling and none of us want to share beds? :)

I would get a room with 2 Queen beds & sofa bed.
Thanks - I don't see sofa bed as a feature in ANY of the rooms I am looking at for the night I will be there. In fact, no rooms with 2 queens either. They must be all booked up. :(

We have stayed several times at the Hyatt as well and loved it especially since we fly from the West Coast and don't get in until late the night before. Not to be a Debbie Downer but I just wanted to clarify for some of the posters that just because you stay at the Hyatt they are not responsible in any way to get your bags to the ship. Posters who are talking about the ease of the luggage transfer are referring to paying for and taking the Disney Cruise Line transfers which is an extra cost in addition to staying at the hotel.
