Anyone stay at Nick hotel 2-bed suite?

Have any of you all stayed here before and would you stay again?
We are thinking about going this Thanksgiving? What do you all think?

HI,

You will certainly get more responses by posting on the Orlando Hotels board, this board is for Universal and Islands of adventure. Contrary to what some people believe, Nick Hotel is not owned or operated by Universal, and in fact is nowhere near Universal, it is VERY close (almost onsite) to WDW.

I have stayed at this hotel, twice when it was just Holiday Inn Family Suites, and once since it became Nick. We really like it, especially now. It is by no means a luxury hotel, but is clean, convenient (in terms of suite layout), super close to WDW and loads of fun. If you are asking should you stay here while going to Universal Parks, I would say no. For the price, you are much better off staying onsite at Universal and getting FOTL access for the parks. If you just want to stay here because the kids are dying to go, then by all means I recommend it. One word of advice: Don't plan ANY parks while staying here, there is so much to do the kids won't want to leave. HTH!

I agree with everything Mrs. Mudd said. We have stayed before and since becoming Nick. It is not luxurious. Kids love it, though. We had bunk beds in the TINY second bedroom. I actually slept on the pull out couch one night and it was terrible. Food is not great. Good value with kids eating free and me being the only adult. You have to wear a wristband for the pools and everything. They want you to sign saying if you lose one, you will pay $20-$30 for a new one. I said we would wear it, but if a kids loses one we will come get another for free. Even an all-inclusive resort does not treat guests like that. Pools were so crowded. Of course, we went in June and hotel was fully booked. If you want to see one of their shows, you need to make reservations early. We almost could not get in.

If I were going to Universal I would never be able to do it without FOTL. I would have to stay on site. Maybe stay one night at Nick for kids.

we loved it. It was lots of fun. It is not huge. The rooms are small but it was perfect for our family of five. You have to plan on spending time at the hotel becasue there is some fun stuff to do. The water parks are awesome. The shows were good. My husband waspicked to be a baby in the show and we laughed and laugehd. The made him act like a baby on stage. LOL> Very Funny.

We have been there 2x both times in August. We love it there. The pool is so much fun the kids never want to leave. Ask for a room on the lagoon side, that is where the big water tower is. I know people say the rooms are small but I don't think it is any smaller than other suites. It certainly is bigger than staying in a hotel room, even a deluxe at WDW. At least this way you have a chance to get a little alone time if you shut the parent's room door. Financially for me, this hotel has gotten a little too expensive with some of the changes it has made. Otherwise, I wouldn't hesitate to stay there again.

we were there in october, and while my family didnt exactly enjoy it, i enjoyed it very much! Being the youngest child (13) I persuaded my dad to stay here for 2 nights. I enjoyed everything there, from the character breakfast, to the huge waterpark play area in the pool, to even getting slimed! One thing, if your kids are 12 or older, they might think that their room is a little on the small side.

Normally we stay on site at Disney, but I had a business trip in the Orlando area and we decided to try the Nick Hotel. My DD10 enjoyed it and I would go their again. She got to participate in the Nick Show, enjoyed the water slides, enjoyed being in the pool and watching a movie on a giant inflatable screen...their were a variety of food choices that were fine. Remember to allow time to just spend at the resort and not just to run off to parks.
