Anyone stationed at Ft. Bliss?

Is anyone here stationed at Ft. Bliss? They are looking for new instructors at the Stinger school for marines and my husband might be voluntold to go there. Just want to know what it is like there, ie the community, schools, etc.

Hi!

In 2005, we were stationed there for a year while DH completed the CSM Academy. We don't have kids, so I can't tell you much about the schools. The area is desert, its very hot and dry, not alot of rain. It is on the border of Juarez, Mexico. The crime in the area is high, but probably not more than any large city. I personally did not like it there, but I know people who love it. Feel free to PM me if you want more details - I just don't want to offend anyone that liked it there.

We were never stationed there but my hubby is from there. I personally did not like it either. I love Texas climate but El Paso did nothing for me.

My husband was at Ft Bliss for two months before he shipped out to Iraq. We (my two children and I) went down to see him for a short week before he left and all I can say is we won't go back. It was very low income, dirty, dry, hot and we felt totally out of our element. The people we came in contact with were nice, but overall it just wasn't a really great place. I hope someone else gets voluntold to go....
