Anyone sleep in a roomette on the auto train?

I'm wondering if the lower beds that (made up of the two seats converted) are comfortable or if you can feel where the two seats meet. We're booked for January & I'm wondering if I should bring my roll up camping mattress to make it more comfy.

Thanks!

We took the train to DC a few years ago and found the room convertible beds very comfortable. On the way back we just had regular seats and they were fine too.

Just was in a roomette on Monday night. I did not feel where the seats met. I usually travel with my daughter and we usually get the full bedroom. Since it was just me I did the roomette. There is room to put a small carryon suitcase in the "closet" area so I would pack lightly if there are going to be two of you!

BTW when in January? We are headed back on the auto train on January 26th!

Great! I was hoping to avoid bringing the camping mat, but I didn't want to be like the princess & the pea either. ;)

We're driving down on Jan 26th, heading back on the autotrain on Feb 2nd--too bad, it would have been fun to already know some of our fellow travelers.

We did coach seats on the autotrain two years ago & while it was better than driving, I just didn't sleep well and after a fun but exhausting Disney week, I needed my sleep.

DD10 is so excited to sleep in the train bunk bed & to be a "1st class" passenger.

We come back on the 3rd! Oh well, almost made it on the same train. Just remember to hit the lounge car when you first get on for the free veggies and dip and cheese and crackers, also free wine for the adults between 4 and 5!

Have a blast!

When they make up the bed they put a thin (about 3" think) foam cushion on top of the folded down seats. Unless you're a princess (think "Once Upon A Mattress" or "The Princess and the Pea") I don't think you will feel the "gap."

The lower bed is really quite comfortable, so is the upper bunk, but you can't roll over up there very easily.

Enjoy your trip. It's my favorite way to travel to WDW.

Awesome, that's why I was thinking of bringing my camping mat, but I guess they already thought of it!:thumbsup2

Wine and cheese is between 3 and 4. :cool1:

Oops - my bad - you are correct! I forget that they let you board by 2:30 now so i was thinking it was on the hour after your board and that used to be 3:00 or after!

Follow up question--did you feel that the linens were sufficient or did you bring you're own pillows/blankets?

Thanks!

I did but I also tend to be warm anyway. You have a sheet and one thin blanket. You can control the flow of air into the roomette if you feel the breeze is too much!

I've never sleept on the auto train but i have on the coast starlight. I took it from Centeraila, washington to Los Angeles. It was wonderfull. I had the family bedroom and the bed was comfy. I took my own pillow and a blanket. I loved the space and the fact that my bag was right outside my door. I alos loved going into the dinng car and just signing for meals. They were pretty good. Have a great time and bring your veido camera you will get some great shots
