What was it like? OK for a 12 & 8 year old? Worth it in your opinion 44 bucks a ticket? I have read a few reviews, some love it while some seem to think its not that great. We like the CD's but I don't know if it's something the kids would enjoy....opinions please.

We have gone for the last 2 years. It was totally awesome, but very loud. I suggest earplugs, especially for your children. After they did their Christmas program, they did some other music which made me wish that I could buy that music too.

I highly recommend it!!!!!

I saw them in St. Pete several years back just before Christmas. Best concert ever!!! I can't imagine an 8 year old really appreciating it but not knowing the child, I can't honestly say. I'd think the 12 year old would have a good idea if this is something they'd like. Hope you get to go! :thumbsup2

I saw them 2 years ago... and I am seeing them this year. It is, indeed, VERY LOUD. But they have a tremendous light / laser show. We saw people from 8 - 80, as they say.... I would say that it totally depends on your kids.

But also realize, that they don't really play Christmas music standards. If you ( or they ) are expecting Jingle Bells, I Saw Mommy Kissing Santa Claus, or Rudoplh the Red Nosed Reindeer, you'll surely be disappointed....

If your kids ahve heard their music, and like it, I would lean towards going.

This will be the fifth year DH and I will have seen TSO and we cannot get enough. We have third row seats on the floor this year and we are so excited! Its an amazing show and if you understand the story behind some of the songs, its very powerdful.

We saw them a couple years ago at a Christmas concert. My DH and I enjoyed it - very loud and very, very bright lights (sounds crazy, but it was incredible). $44? Not sure I'd go that far. 8 years old? No - not unless they like a lot of metal music!

DH and I are planning to go this year, but not with the kids. It will cost us a bit, and I don't think the girls would enjoy it enough to make it worth it. We're making it a "couples" trip. I can't wait!!!! The louder the better!

i've seen them twice and i would definatly recommend it! they put on a GREAT show!! and i think the kids would get a kick out of it, as well! just to warn you, it can get pretty loud sometimes.

their set doesn't change much tho, so if you see them once, it's good enough.

I saw them last year, and though I probably won't see them again, I am glad I saw their show. To me it was like "hard rock meets Christmas music."

They do put on a great show, but if bright lights & loud music gets to you, then take a couple of aspirin before the show. :)

This will be either the 6th or 7th year we've gone to see TSO. Last year, I couldn't go because I was pregnant (worried about the very loud noise). My DH took our 8 yr old and our 9 yr old. Both of them enjoyed it. This year were taking all 3 older kids (7, 9 and 10 yrs old). My kids like listening to our TSO CD's.

We did buy earplugs (over-the-counter) for the kids last yr and will again this year. The show is very loud (and bright). I just wanted to be sure we didn't harm the kids' ears.

They're going to be here ONE day in October.  At 10:00 a.m.

I'll at least wait to see if they show up during the holidays.

DH surprised me with tickets to see them in NYC more than 5 years ago. We loved it! Definately worth seeing them. I absolutely love their song "Christmas Carol" (aka "Canon in D" with a twist) b/c it reminds me of walking down the aisle to DH on our wedding day :cloud9:

If you are not sure if your kids will like it, you could get their Christmas DVD and show it to them so they can see it and hear the music. Our DS5 loves the DVD. However, he's still a little too young to start going to concerts, lol.

If you are worried about how loud it may be for them (if you decide to take them) then I would highly recommend getting earplugs for them. DS5 has gone to see Monster Jam twice (which IMO is louder than any concert I've been to) and had the earplugs in both times to help lessen the noise. Worked out great!

Its really funny I love their CDs and all things Christmas but I hated the concert. So did the couple we were with. We actually left half through. It seemed like the same song for an hour. Very tedious and boring. :confused3 Your mileage may vary.

We will be going to see TSO for the first time this year too and we are taking our kids ages 10 and 13 - I do plan on bringing earplugs for them just in case it is too loud for them and I will probably give them a dose of advil before we go to prevent any headaches;) I think it will be lots of fun and we are really looking forward to it:) I looked up some videos on You Tube for them to watch to see if they would like it and they both thought TSO was cool :cool2:

A group of us went last year and totally enjoyed it. We had great seats on the side of the coliseum and got to see the light show much better than had we been on the floor.

They're going back again this year. Right now, I'm debating. Only due to finances (or lack thereof). But I'll probably cave in... :goodvibes

My kids bought me tickets a couple of years ago. I loved the show, DH not so much. He likes the music, but said it was too loud. If your children are noise sensitive, then I would not take them.
