DS15 wants to see this movie, and I am leaning towards taking him. I just want to know how bad the violence and language is and if there are any *adult* scenes(don't think I am allowed to put the s word here, LOL).

TIA

Marsha

I have seen it. It is rated R for brutal violence and language and it also has a gang rape scene. Despite all this, it has a very Christian theme.:confused3

Personally, I do not usually enjoy end of the world type movies or even those with a particular religious theme but I did enjoy this one. If I had concerns about my child seeing this, then I would probably not take him.

There is no nudity in it. The violence is graphic. The language was not a problem. I think the graphic violence is the main reason for the rating. I took my 14 year old son to see it.

Like Pony said, it does have a Christian theme. We were fine with that, but people who are offended by that might not like it.

Actually, I like that is has a Christian theme, so no problem there. DS is 15 and I don't worry too much about the language or violence. I am a little worried about the gang rape seen a PP mentioned. Is that actually shown?

I was about worried about that scene when it started, but they do not show her getting raped. They show it leading up to it. It was fine for my 14 yr old to watch, IMO. If they had shown any more, then I would not have been ok with him seeing that.

Okay, thanks! I think I will take him.

WOW! Just have to say that was one of the best movies I ever saw! It was one of the few that both DS and I agree on. I didn't think the violence was that gruesome and the language wasn't the worst either. The rape and almost rape scenes were more violent than sexual, one was interrupted and the other they just panned away. The movie had a very good message behind it as well.

DS17 and his girlfriend are at the movies now seeing this. I'd never heard of this movie until this evening and now this thread. Wonder how they're liking it.....
