We are going April 12th and I have yet to read one review on the show. It opened March 24th and not one peep.

Been on NY critics review, broadway buzz...you name it. would love for someone here on the DIS to have seen it and share with me..
Or perhaps someone knows of a website that has the review..

In any event, if I don't find one, I will report back to all of you on the 13th.

Can't wait to see it. Josh Strickland from American Idol has starring role.

Can't wait to hear what you have to say. I have tickets for May 3rd. Some people on some Broadway chat boards are not giving it the best reviews but I'd have to say Tarzan is one of my favorite Disney cartoons and definitely my favorite soundtrack so I don't think I'll be disappointed. I think the negative people weren't necessarilly 'Disers'. The other issue getting lots of chatter is views from certain seats. I'm so grateful my gut told me for a show like Tarzan I should go with the mezzinine since most of the issue is with action being high on the stage and several rows in the orchestra area can't see all the way up due to the mezzanine overhang.

Hope you have a great time, can't wait to hear back.

We saw the show last night 4/13. I dont know how to describe it. But as someone that enjoys Disney, several trips a year to WDW and was really sad to see the Tarzan show close in AK, the show is a real disappointment.

I have been to other shows on Broadway and this is the first time that I couldnt wait for the show to be over. After Intermission, there were a fair amount of empty seats. (Theatre was full when the show started.)

The show doesnt really capture you and keep you waiting for the next scene.
The music is good, the cast was good,(Although, I expected Tarzan to be a larger body frame.)

The use of the ropes and such look more like army commando's performing.

There are some interesting effects during the show, but I think the show wont see a long run unless it has some changes.

I have seen Beauty and the Beast, but not Lion King, but both of those shows are outstanding.

Sorry for the poor review.....

:yay: :sunny:

First Act I was slightly disappointed. My biggest problem was with the set or actually the non existense of one.
Picture this! Sides and back of theater are all englufed with green grass streaming from top of stage to floor. Cast comes in and out through this grass... Other than the opening scene which is fantastic, there is NOTHING>>>> and I mean NOTHING. As far as sets go, it didn't get better to the 2nd act..

Let's move on to cosutumes. Gorillas costumes ...well what can I say??? cheesy, cheap and totally not what I expected. They absolutely dropped the ball here. The Leopards, plants were great but Jane, Tarzan and rest of **** sapiens in play were what I expected.

I was disappointed because I feel you get morefor your money one day in WDW than I did on a Broadway stage. At $100 per seat, I expected more. I felt very cheap of DISNEY. Heck for the admission price one day at any one park I could of seen Lion King, B&B rode Rnr, did TOT,watched a afternoon parade as well as seen fireworks at night!!
so yes, Disney is raking in the money on this one.

Okay, sound is great, songs are terrific. felt the cast did a great job!!
BUT the story line is extremely WEAK...very very weak. One minute tarzan meets Jane and within the next five minutes they are in love..

Writers here should of been fired a long time ago. Certaintly not up to Disney Quality.

I have seen B&B as well as Lion King am AIDA on Broadway so I know Disney is quite capable of producing a winner show
Okay on to 2nd act!! Sets got much better and I got more impressed. Let's not forget I seen show in previews so it will be tweaked somewhat.(but not enough to give it an "A" rating)

All in all, I enjoyed the show. And if I had to ask myself why .......I would say it was the ability and/or the agility of the dancers. They are beyond fantastic.
I don't believe any show on Broadway can compare to this.

The gorillas swinging through the air, the plants, butterfiles dancing 20 feet off the stage and the sheer rigourous ability it must have taken to complete this show is worth it in itself.

Josh Strickland is great, has good voice as well.. The ensemble is totally energetic, strong athletic and singing ability.

My favorite character was "Terk"...he has a beautiful voice and did a great acting job.

So all in all, you will not be dissapointed.
I was in the orchestra section and had absolutely no problems seeing everything. I think people are making too much of a big deal of not seeing tarzan swing. He only does it twice,,,so come on!~~

Although I would not like to be in the last 7-8 rows of the orchestra. Personally I think they are worse than the last 10 rows of mezzanine.

so for anyone looking to see this show,,, If you want to be impressed by dancing and rigourous activity, this is the show for you!!!!!!!

If you are looking for sets or storyline,,,,wait for Mary Poppins!!
will be out in October of this year!!
and since I am certaintly not a accredited critic... this is just my humble review.

And note: Tarzan is not my favorite flic...so maybe I am somewhat biased.

if you can, do not pay full price...do back mezzanine. you won't miss a thing

I didn't know Mary Poppins was coming to broadway! Thanks for the heads up. DS LOVES MP!!
