Anyone seen Paranormal Activity?

Go see it and report back.;):rotfl:I won't go see it because it has the camera shaky thing going on. Makes me feel ill.

I saw it on Thursday. Honestly, I expected it to be A LOT scarier than what everyone said. My best friend said her boyfriend couldn't sleep in his own bed!!

Now, the scary parts were scary but because the way the movie is set up, you knew when something scary was going to happen and IMO, the scary parts didn't last long enough..

That being said, if you've got the time and money to spend, go see it! It's still creepy/scary just not as scary as I expected/wanted!

I am such a chicken these days! I want to see it, but know I won't be able to sleep for a week afterwards, so I am still debating it!

It was not scary to me. Like someone mentioned before you can tell when something is going to happen. It was an alright movie, I wouldn't see it again. I did enjoy the end.

is it gory at all? is it more blair witch or is it more saw?

I can handle (sort of) blair witch type stuff, but horror generally tops out for me at things like poltergeist. lol. my husband really wants to see paranormal activity and not sure if I should go or not.

anyone?

It's waaaaayyy more blair witch. There was no gore until the end and that lasted like not even a couple of seconds (just blood..)

I was debating about seeing it for no other reason then I think it's going to make sleeping really difficult for a bit. However, my DH has begged me to go see it and so we are, this Saturday. :scared1:

I'm hoping that I have gotten myself into such a state over it that when I do actually see it that it's a let down. That (hopefully) will make it easier to turn the lights off at night. :rotfl:

My younger sisters saw it, they hadn't heard anything about it and thought it was real, didn't realise it was a fictional movie. They said it made them cry they were so scared, at the very end it said this is not based on a true story or something like that. Once they saw that, they said had they known it probably wouldn't have been so scary.

thank you! maybe I'll give in. he'll be sooo happy. he has to see saw and all those movies on his own, no way could I see those. but if its mostly creepy/scary, well, I guess I could handle it.

This is one of those movies I kind of want to see but i know I really DO NOT want to see it. (But I do enjoy reading everyone's reviews.)

I was disappointed. A lot of it was dead air, mundane stuff, with little bits of "ooohh" thrown in, until the end. But the end was so abrupt with no build-up. Blair Witch at least had a grand build-up to the last moment, when they were searching through that old house. There was one character (I don't want to be a spoiler) whose acting was TERRIBLE and and the dialogue the writers gave him was so lame.

But do go see it, because it's different than everything else in the theaters now.

We went Friday night to the 7:40 showing and it was well packed. In our party, there were 3 adults and DS14 and DD12. We all enjoyed the heck outta the movie, but we all enjoy horror movies.

The shakieness of the movie wasn't to bad. Far better then Cloverfield or Blair Witch, IMHO. Gore, on a scale of 1-10, with 10 being really bad, a 1 with the exception of the last minute, then a 2.

At one point, I looked down at DS14 and he had pulled his hoodie way up over his head. He could still see out, but you could tell he was using it as a shield. DD12, alternated gripping her dads arm and his best friends arm. By the last 5 minutes, she was on the edge of her seat, rocking back and forth, with her hands up cupping around her mouth (like she was blowing into them trying to warm them up). At the end when the screaming stops, her one hand is now quickly patting DH's leg, she is still rocking and the other had is at her mouth, but she is now, stating over and over, OMG...OMG...OMG, and kept doing it til the end of the movie. When the camera gets knocked over, she was adding to the OMG. DH asked her if she was ok. She never missed a beat in her leg patting, rocking, OMGing, or took her eyes off the screen when she added that this was so cool, we are getting this on DVD.

From our family, it gets a big 5 :thumbsup2.

I don't like spooky movies and never go to them any more. But oldest DD went to see it and she said she thought it was lame.:confused3

I totally agree, expect I thought it was her that was not so good. I thought he did better and the ghost hunter guy did better then the both of them. :rotfl2:

I read that there was no script at all. The director just told them where he wanted them to go and they ad libbed it all.

You knew whenever something was going to happen because of the muffled "shoes in the dryer" sound. You just totally expected something, and then were generally let down when it happened.

In my opinion there was only 2 real freaky things that occured in the movie, okay, maybe 3, but one of them is all over the previews so that really took away from the shock of it. I think that there were so many things that they could have done to make it even more scary.

Unfortuntly my DH and I were disappointed in the movie and actually found ourselves laughing at a couple of things during it, while others were screaming. Their (the actors) reactions to some of the stuff that was happening just didn't ring true at all, very underacted in some parts.

I am such a baby about scary movies, but this one just didnt' do it for me. I didn't even have any trouble sleeping!!!

I agree. It's like you knew what was going to happen at the scary moments and they gave you time to prepare for it!

I like Blair Witch better because it was the first movie made that way.
This one was like Blair Witch 2.

From the movies I've seen I still think the Exorcist and Jaws is scarier.

Maybe I have no heart but I thought the movie was just a waste of time. But I did laugh A LOT!
It was more funny than scary, and I LOVE scary movies. Everything from the classics (Exorcist, Nightmare, etc) to the campy (Sleepaway camp, April fool's day) and this one...eh.

It is amazing how much they were able to do with such a small budget...but it wasn't scary.
The rest of the theater seemed to agree. In scenes where it looked like it was supposed to be a good scare...it just got a jolly old laugh from the audience.

I wished I had waited to rent it instead of paying the $12 at the theater.

I saw this movie a few weeks ago. I liked it I didn't think it was a great movie but I thought it was better than Cloverfield and The Blair Witch Project. I thought of it more as a suspense movie than horror movie. The supernatural elements were easy to understand if you are raised in a religion that believes in demons and spirits a lot. The movie didn't scare me I was creeped towards the end when I figured Katie had changed.
