I only caught the last half of the show. He had on 2 Anti-war protesters. He was trying to get them to understand that it is fine to be against the war but we have to support our troops and we need to not protest in a way that the enemy can utilize. ie. Stopping traffic=pulling law enforcement from other areas

It was quite good and he had a number of service people in his audience.

I never know what time that program is on and I missed it. I wanted to watch it too.

I only saw bits and pieces, too. But, what I did see was quite good. He really gave it to the protesters. They have to realize that their actions can be used by the enemy to attempt to demoralize our troops no matter how much they say "they support the troops" public action has potential harm. Expressing their opinion to through letters and e-mail to their representatives does not do the real harm that these protests can do.

He also had on Shoshawna Johnson's family. I sure hope there is a miracle that bring this girl home too. She was serving as a cook. He also showed pictures of those who have been killed or are MIA/POW at every break.

It was good. I wish I could have really sat down to see it. (Or, I wish I had TiVo.)

Yes - I just happened to wander into the living room when the show was on.. Was quite interesting..

What I found interesting was that the protestors presented no justification - nor did they take any responsibility - for the unlawful behavior exhibited by some.. When Dr. Phil specifically pointed out that he witnessed two ambulances (with lights flashing) caught in the grid lock caused by protestors blocking traffic, they did not respond. When he went on to add that he saw approximately 75 police officers at the scene of this particular protest - and pointed out that at a time when we are on high alert for terrorist attacks the police should be elsewhere - again, no response.. I think he summed it up quite nicely when he said, "With every right, comes a responsibility.." I wonder if those protestors (involved in the particular incident that he witnessed) would be willing to assume the responsibility for their actions if someone had died in one of those ambulances?

What I liked about the show was that he let the protesters have their say, thus allowing them to hang themselves with their own words. He pressed them for answers without being bombastic. He presented his viewpoint in the spirit of respectful disagreement. It was one of the few times I have seen a televised discussion about war protests that didn't degenerate into name-calling or with the host constantly interrupting.

I watched the episode just a few minutes ago.

I think (imho) the term "self-centered" best describes the protestors on the show. Their attitude seemed to be "If I can't get things MY way, I can do ANYTHING, ANYWHERE, ANYTIME I want, & the rest of the world be damned.

Additionally, I found them to be completely unwilling to acknowledge the situation as it truly exists. I swear, if I hear the term "unjust war" one more time, I'm gonna' go suck on the exhaust pipe of my truck!! :earseek: :earseek: :earseek:

At least they didn't yell................................................

I forgot to mention the best part of the show when the military officer stood up and instead of criticizing the protesters directly, he said that our soldiers are trained and willing to die so that they could enjoy the right to dissent. That was powerful.

With this kind of thinking, our country wouldn't even be here.
Why protest unless you are going to get someone's attention?
We have large and scheduled protests here without the need
for large groups of police. On the other hand - Every week in the fall, nearly every police officer in our city has to report for traffic duty for a college football game-traffic makes it impossible to travel in town and you better hope there is no fire or real emergency nearby. Also, during our annual marathon, streets are closed and full of runners for four hours at a time. Life is full of delays and pleasant things that cause these same kinds of problems- you just want to find reasons to hate these protestors because they go against what you believe. I personally think the
college football games should be cancelled because they cause
a dangerous environment of drunken debauchery and blocked
streets from 6 am to who knows when with horrible traffic
jams and in my opionion, police sanctioned law breaking on
a weekly basis in my town from mid September to late
November. You can find an agenda no matter what the issue.
And for the record-if you are going to call people protesting
for peace "arrogant" and "self-centered", take another look at Dr. Phil.

I don't disagree with that, but he's not in the highway blocking traffic!!!!

If you know in advance that there are going to be traffic delays (due to a football game or whatever), you can make alternate plans.. People who work during the day have no forewarning of these protests and therefore are unable to make alternate plans.. An ambulance that is trying to transport a patient to a hospital would also have no way of knowing that they were about to end up in a grid lock..

"Hating protestors" is not the issue.. Hating UNLAWFUL, dangerous activities - and the refusal of these protestors to take responsibility for the consequences of their actions - most definitely IS the issue.. The really sad part is that their actions are all for naught.. NO ONE is listening to their "message".. Not to mention the fact that it gives the ENTIRE movement a huge black eye.. Adults will not respond in a positive way to a two-year old when they are throwing a temper tantrum and acting out in a totally unacceptable manner.. Why would anyone think that adults would respond in a positive manner to this same type of behavior from other people who are SUPPOSED to be adults?

Feel free to protest all you want.. Just do it in a lawful, ADULT manner - unless of course you really don't want anyone to "listen"..

Now I really wish I had watched this. I didn't because I thought Dr Phil was going to cozy up to the protestors. I'll bet that's what they were expecting too. They thought they were going to get a free ride. Glad to hear he didn't let them off easy.
