We are contemplating various options here if you see my other threads. I'm curious if anyone has done a 1 way rental from National from the cape to orlando WDW car care center. Reason I ask is dcltribute's site says there is no shuttle to national, but they have a negotiated taxi rate of $11. Has anyone done this? What was your experience?

Yes we did it once because we got there a day early and didn't want to park a rented car for 7 days so we turned it in at the National in Cape Caniveral. The taxi was there promptly to pick us up (National called them) and we made arrangements to pick us up later and bring us back to National to rent a car to drive to Orlando. It was painless and we would do it again if needed to. I don't think you'll have any problems.

We have ressies for Nat'l next month for our DCL cruise.

Even with the cost of the taxi, they come out cheaper than Avis or the other one and I will make my 45 day rental requirement for Executive Aisle with this trip.

We plan to have Dh drop us and the bags at the port and then drive to Nat'l to return the car by himself. This way he wont have to handle bags or all of us squeeze into a taxi.

Same thing for the return trip. We'll stay on the boat as long as we can.

Our 24 hour rental MCO TO Cocoa is $27 and our 3 day after cruise rental Cocoa to MCO is $57. I used Entertainment coupon for free upgrade and 1 day free plus AMEX code to get these prices.

I estimate our total costs at $110 which includes taxi and tip. Add a half tank of gas, and we are still getting a great deal to have transportation for our entire land portion.

Dang, you did get a great deal! I priced it with ent coupon for a minivan and got around $150 for 1 day and 2 day.

Yes, we did last year when we cruised in the middle of a WDW/Universal trip.

When we dropped the car off, we asked the agent to call a taxi for us...there was no "negotiated rate" for us, it was $17 to the terminal. The driver gave us his card and told us to call him as soon as we got our luggage from the ship. Sure enough, he was waiting on us when we came down the gangplank, took us back for the same price.

We rented from National last year after our cruise. When we got to the taxi stand, there was no "White Taxi" which had the negotiated rate, so we took the only taxi available to National. I think it cost us about $12-13 plus the tip. The national office there is small, with not many car choices, but it was still a great deal for us.
