Anyone rented an RV?

Has anyone ever flown to Orlando and then rented an RV to camp in at Ft. Wilderness?

I understand fully that it won't be much of a money saver, probably will cost about the same as a cabin or Deluxe resort! But we've always daydreamed about a camper, and this would be fun way to see if we can stand spending a week in one.

This has been discussed before on the forum. If you use the "Search Forums" field at the top of this web page with the words "rent RV" you will find the threads.

There are 1 or 2 places that will deliver to FW and even do the setup (and back-in). Of course, everything carries a fee but it is an alternative if you are going when the FW cabins are full. If you go pick it up be aware sometimes pick-ups and drop-offs aren't available on the weekend so be sure to ask.

Sounds like a neat idea.

We rented the onsite units in several campgrounds prior to purchasing our travel trailer. It gave us a good feeling for just what we wanted in our own unit. We rented with a slide and without..and knew we definetely wanted a slide out unit. I like the spacious feel to the slide out units. These were travel trailers that were already placed on site in campgrounds. If you are looking to have a company deliver a unit to FW, as stated there is a company I've read about here on the forum that does just this. I do think it's a great idea and will give you more of a feel for RV'ing than those in the "cabin" loops. Those are are more like a modular/mobile home.(with a cabin exterior)..and quite a bit larger than most travel trailers or motor homes. The camping loops are much more accesible to the amenities of the campground also. You will have fun, I say go for it!
