Does anyone rent a townhouse/condo while at Disney World? If so, where do you stay at? We haven't been to WDW for a few years, but we're considering taking DD (age 3 1/2 at time of trip) in February 2014. The last time we were at WDW, we stayed at Terra Verde in a townhouse which we really liked. What other condo resorts should I check out? Thanks.

We just booked a 3 bedroom townhouse at Terra Verde for this coming February. Is there a reason you don't want to re-book there for this trip? Yikes, I hope you didn't have a bad experience there! Last year we stayed at Runaway Beach Club. Our condo was nice enough, although after that stay we now know we need at least two bedrooms, that unit was a one bedroom, one bath. Not quite big enough for the four of us. Kids are too big for pull out sofas to be comfy. We wouldn't re-book at Runaway. Seemed to be a mix of residents and vacationers. Walls were paper thin and we could her the people below us yelling in the middle of the night and the people next to us coming home from the parks late. They would put in a movie for the kids and we could here every word (and song!) of the movie being played. I now know "Lion King" word for word!

Oh no, we had a great experience at Terra Verde! I'm just always open to new places/experiences. :) Our stay was in early 2005, so the details are a bit fuzzy. The only problem I remember was the hot tub not working properly, and that was fixed within an hour or so as soon as we called the management company. I don't remember any problems with noise at all...unless I count DH snoring like a sick cow. :rolleyes1

We've stayed at Windsor Hills and loved it, might try out Wyndham Bonnet Creek next time.

Windsor Hills - check out the Orlando boards for more opinions

Phew! What a relief! Thanks for letting me know it was a good stay, really appreciate it. The private hot tub at the end of the day was the real selling point for me. Hopefully, there won't be any problems! I too like to try different places. Some noise is expected regardless of where I go. I also have a "sick cow"!

We rented a townhouse in Windsor Hills and my kids loved having the space and the private pool. This year we stayed on property and my 5 y.o. kept asking when we were going back to "our Disney house." We will probably go back there next time, and it's significantly cheaper!

We rented a townhouse/condo in Windsor Hills this past May, 2013 for 6 nights/7days. Our family of 4 loved it. DH enjoyed the living room area (sofas, tv,patio view, open space), DD5 and DS8 enjoyed the themed room with twin beds, tv and bath and I enjoyed the full kitchen as we make most of our meals because of sensitive tummy issues and relaxing in the master bedroom. We used the 3rd bedroom as a play room for the kids. The private screened in pool was a big hit with the kids. Loved having our own home away from home to come back to after a long day in the parks. Also with 3 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms getting everyone ready was never an issue as we do rope drop at the parks most days and come back for afternoon breaks. Gas stations, restaurants, shopping and most importantly access to theme parks weren't that far away. Rates were very good at $149 a night compared to $349 a night for a suite at Art of Animation where we had planned on staying. Never heard our neighbors except once when their kids were in the pool and got a little loud but they were just having fun and it was the middle of the day. We have already booked our next planned stay at Windsor hills for 2014....can't wait to go back!!

DH and I stayed at Lighthouse Key this past March. We loved it. The condo was very nice and well appointed. It was off season so very quiet. Bay views and about 10 min. from AKL. Nice pool with deli/shop and there is a spa and movie theater. We enjoyed our stay. With a child this young it would be great, with older children they would have to be content with the pool and game room.

We have stayed at Bonnet Creek and World Quest, Summer Bay and Liki Tiki. The World Quest was the best deal. The resort is a mile from WDW and is just behind the Nickelodeon hotel. There is a nice pool and we had a balcony upstairs and a screened patio on lower level. There is a full kitchen, washer/dryer and a jacuzzi in master suite. It was nice to spread out and with multiple rooms and tv's a nice place to take a break in afternoon before heading back. There is a publix and a super walmart nearby.

We rented a pool home last Christmas for only $800 for the week including taxes and pool heat (http://www.vrbo.com/375088). It was very close to Animal Kingdom. We also rented a 2 bedroom condo in Windsor Hills for $422 including everything via http://www.vacationcentralflorida.com . It was comfortable, but worn and in need of some TLC. Both places had lot of things for small children. The condo even has a free stroller to borrow for your vacation. The condo was not one owned by Dave & Patti, but one of their friends. I think that Dave & Patti would have kept up with the maintenance a little better. I may rent through them again, but not from one of their associates.

I would suggest looking at the Orlando Hotels board - that has the most offsite info here.

I've rented from www.redweek.com but we prefer a resort, not a house in a neighborhood. We like resort amenities (maybe a market, large pool, games, restaurants even though we eat in a lot).

We have a timeshare (Marriott) and get "getaways" through Interval International - many times about $350 for a week at a Marriott (we've gotten Sabal Palms, Harbor Lake, and Grande Vista in Orlando on them). So if you have any friends that could help with that, you can get a great deal (most of them rent directly from Marriott for about $300 a night, so it can be a great deal).

We stay at Vistana Villages by Sheraton. Daughter loves it there. Place is like new and tons of things to do there

Another vote for the Sheraton properties :thumbsup2 . We stayed at the Sheraton Vistana Resort (not the Villages as the PP) but like the PP, we thought it was incredible. The villas are outstanding and so spacious. The resort itself offers a ton of activities for every age and stage, and each of the pools offer a little something unique (one has a slide, one has small fountains for the little ones to run through, one shows evening movies on a big screen, two have waterfalls, etc.). They have wonderful playgrounds scattered throughout the resort that would be perfect for the OP's child.

Each 2 bedroom, 2 bath villa sleeps either 6 or 8, depending on the configuration of your 2nd bedroom (most have two doubles but two sections of the resort have 2 twins).

Parking is free, internet is free.

You can check out my August trip report (see the link in my signature) for lots of photos of the villas and the resort amenities.

I am a Wyndham vacation owner so I am going to suggest to you Wyndham Bonnet Creek. It is inside the Disney property gates and can be rented very cheaply. Around $125 a night for a 2 bedroom. You cant rent through Vacation Upgrades or Vacation Strategies. There are 2 or 3 more brokers who specialize in Bonnet Creek rentals. You can find out more info on those over on the Orlando resorts board under the We Love Bonnet Creek thread.

They have 5 pools, 2 lazy rivers, 2 slides, free putt putt golf, a game room, an activity center and craft room for the kids and they have daily activities all day long for the kids. they even have a make your own ice cream sundae every day at 3 pm.

Here is a pdf booklet where you can see a list of all the daily activities they have.

I have rented from a smaller company, www.fvhl.com 4 times now! Robin manages about 8 properties right off of Formosa Garden Blvd off 192. There are photos of every room of each home on the website. All of the homes we have stayed at are wonderful, the houses are all super close to the parks, and coming back to a 5 bedroom 4 bath house, 3 tvs and with private pool for about $165 a night was the best part! Tell her Carie sent you! Good luck with whatever you choose!!

We have friends who have rented homes several times through All Star Vacation Homes. They keep wanting us to try renting a condo. They have three kids and also bring grandparents, so the extra space makes sense for them. Its just me, my wife and daughter, and we like staying on site so it doesn't seem to make that much sense for us.

They get a house with a private pool. That sounds like the best part.

We've stayed at Grand Palms 3 times. It's a small condo community and very affordable. It's "older" (1990s) so therefore pretty cheap as rentals go. I found many on VRBO. We had 3 bedrooms, 2 full baths, washer dryer, our own parking spot. There's a shared pool and hot tub.
