We went to dh co. Christmas party and The Doobie Bros. performed for 1.5 hours in a full blown concert format....It was so cool...hearing all the music from my high school days....

That is indeed cool. I remember listening to the Doobie Brothers in High School.

That's really cool. I liked them a lot particularly when Tom Johnston was their lead singer. I understand that he's not with them now but it would still be a lot of fun to hear them again.

I remember the Doobie Brothers when they were on "What's Happening"... Rerun bootlegged one of their shows and boy were they mad!

I love the Doobie Brothers too! I saw them perform live a few years ago when they were on the summer concert series on the Today Show. It was great! I even got a few autographs from the (then) band members after the performance. I still love hearing their music!

That's the first that popped into my head when I saw this thread. :rotfl2:

I think even if you don't remember the Doobies, you know their work. DD called me from college last week and wanted to know who sings "Oh Black Water"). It seems that a group of friends were listening to the music and wondered who sang the songs. :) Interestingly, quite a bit of the music from the 60's-80's seems popular with a wide variety of age groups. :)

Wonder why they called them Doobie? :rotfl2:

I remeber growing up listening to them, My Parents had a few 8 tracks.

They were my brother's favorite band. One of the band members (don't ask me who, he liked them, not me!) grandmother lived in the nursing home my Mom worked in. So she got the whole band's autographs for my DB. He was thrilled at the time, but I'm sure they're long gone now.

But yes, anytime I hear "Black Water", I think of my DB and how much he loved them.

Yep, they played all the songs mentioned.
They sure do look a whole lot older than I remember from my HS days....of course I dont... The member with the long gray hair was jumping around the stage, really rockin out :Pinkbounc ....I dont know how much longer he will be able to do that without breaking a hip :rotfl2: JK.....
I very innocently asked dh if their last name was Doobie....He was like, yeah that is it.....:confused3....and then said I think it has a meaning having to do with their lifestyle when the band was formed.....Ahaha....now I get it..... :goodvibes

Oooh, I just heard "blackwater" on the radio yesterday!! I was driving down the road with my oldies (ugh!) radio station on, telling my kids about all the great songs from the 70's when it came on. Awesome song, awesome band!

BTW, I don't think my 9 and 11 y/o sons "got it". . hehe. . .they're into rap and all that. . .

Yeah I remember them, and now I'm sad for them. Playing a company Christmas party. :(

Jimmy Buffett once got $250K for 30 minutes of songs @ a company (Worldcom) party.
