Ok, so I was thinking about this today, and I cannot believe how many iterations and reiterations I have done since January or so. My husband thinks I've gone right off the deep end. Maybe he's right. Here goes with the history of our lovely trip:

  1. I get a PIN that gives me some nice savings. I book Poly Club level for 8/6-8/13. I'm a happy camper.
  2. My DIS buddy (@Karebear) from the Yacht and Beach Club thread sees me posting on the Polythread and tells me she and her family are going in July, and that her travel agent had a great deal.
  3. I cancel my 8/6-8/13 reservation and book a new date.
  4. I start thinking about how nice it would be to have an extra day and try a different resort.
  5. I use my PIN and book a night at CBR for the Friday night before going to the Poly.
  6. I second guess myself at the CBR, and cancel there and book a Water view at Yacht Club.
  7. I third guess myself, and upgrade to YC club level.
  8. I am not crazy about the idea of the non-refurbished room at the YC.
  9. I cancel the YC and book at Sugar Loaf at the Grand Floridian.
  10. I remembered that I had a miserable time at Sugar Loaf, so I upgrade to the RPC.
  11. I started thinking about the great deal I had at the Poly. Do I really want to spend that much at the GF?
  12. NO!!!! I definitely need to change the reservation again. I have to. It's required.
  13. I call the travel agent and book another night at the Poly.
  14. I start wondering what it would be like if I booked a better room than the Garden view club room I have the the Poly.
  15. I asked my husband and he turned his back and walked away.
  16. So I started texting him "How about a nicer view?" He finally relents. He's excited about the view.
  17. I cancel the GF now, because I know we definitely want the Poly.
  18. There is no rate for the TPV. So Garden View club it is. My husband is wondering why I put him through 3 hours of torture about views for nothing.

Let's not even go there with the dining reservations.

Thank goodness my FP window opens in less than a month. I figure I can change those 100 times.

I'm super excited for my trip, though!!!!! What do you think, will I change it again?

We truly love your post. You are not alone. I am doing the same thing for our trip this summer. It is our DDs 21st birthday and we wanted to surprise her with a great hotel. I can't even count how many times we changed. I really still don't know where we will end up. We are doing a split stay with 3 resorts and keep changing how many days in each hotel plus I am not sure the hotels we have now are definite. I didn't like the discounts that were available. The only hotel that will stay is the last one - which will be when she turns 21 - the CR CL TPV. She loves the CR - since she can walk to MK.

I read this to my DDs that are helping me plan this to show that I am not the only one. :yay: Every time I am going to make a change I ask them and now they just laugh. My DH will be happy wherever we end up.

Let us know where you end up staying.

I've changed our reservations at least 6 times. Disney keeps sending us the little booklet a week or two after the change. Hubby just asked today how many more of these are going to show up, I said at least 4...:upsidedow

What's funny is that they are always the brochure for the one that I just cancelled!

Haha I'm at the 15-18 stage right now but my husband isn't even going on this trip with me. Once I convince my husband to give me more money then I gotta convince my mom to make the move cause she doesn't seem to want to move from CBR to a Royal Room at POR for me 6 year old nieces first trip. I think the pool at CBR will be better than POR but I think the room at POR will be better than CBR. However, maybe I should listen to my mom and realize the money we would save could go to something different since we won't be in the room much anyways.

See I'm quite capable of making as many changes as you easier for me as we have Dvc so I can do it myself so none else sees the insanity.

But I have to say I'd never ever tell my husband what I'm doing. I tell him we are booked and that is that

Pssshhhh...I tell my husband nothing anymore! He doesn't want to be bothered with trip planning until it's time to leave. I can bring it up 20 times and he's all, "Just tell me how much, I don't care about every little thing!" Then we get to the airport and he wants to question everything! No sir! Lol!!!

Yea I get just tell me when to book the taxi for the airport

Then we get there and he decides to drive and complains the whole time that he has no idea where we are going or where anything is. Gotta love husbands or we'd be doing a 15 stretch for justifiable homicide

I'm driving my husband crazy! We started at CBR then I moved to POFQ because he would love the one bus stop. Then I moved back to CBR because I think POFQ theme isn't for me. Then I moved back to POFQ because we got a great deal. Now I want to move back to CBR because free dining.

Same here! I kept looking at DVC availability and changing for our ( intentional ) split stay. It can be exhausting. We finally have resorts stays we are happy with- and are working on dining and which parks which days. Ugh

Well I am glad that you did change your original plans to be there at the same time as us--that will be fun! I haven't changed my hotel as much as you but I think that I have you beat on how many times I have changed my ADRs :) The trick is not to tell you husband until you are at the airport where you are going to be staying!

I am the same way! I change EVERYTHING over and over again. I think that the Disney CMs have a note in my information that warns them of what they're about to get themselves into. My husband is no help with planning, and hates when I ask him what he thinks. But yet the whole way there he asks ten thousand questions.

He has his love for tournament fishing though, which drives me crazy, and I love Disney.

I love your post! And it really shows two things -- how much you love Disney and how much you love your family's having a great time there. I must confess that we've never even considered doing a split stay? Don't you lose a morning in the parks to pack up and move everything?

The pool at POR will be better -- trust me on that, and even a non-royal room at POR is beautifully decorated. For much less than the cost of a royal room, you can get her some fun princess dresses and a tiara -- and she can take them home with her. I must confess that I also love (1) the boat ride to Downtown Disney and (2) both food courts at Port Orleans. Lastly, there is a chance you will arrive and have a free upgrade.

We usually do the small number of nights for the split. We use a subset of stuff in carry-on baggage, so if on the front end, we don't unpack the larger luggage. If the shorter stay is on the back-end, we pack the big ones for going home, and use the carry-on for the shorter stay. We only fully unpack for the longer stay.
