Anyone regret their in-ground pool?

My parents moved when I was 15 and I begged and begged for a pool. Well, we got one, and although it's fun, it's a PITA. We really had fun, but it's A LOT of maintenance. And because of the high maintenance level, we didn't use it much. We had a lot of pool parties at my house in HS, but the summer after my senior year, we opened it up for my open house, and it was a mess. Tiles fell off, the water was green (and stayed that way through most of the summer), etc. So, most of our pool parties ended up being at the IL's above ground pool. If we were to ever get a pool, I'd opt for the above ground, especially if you don't want messing around. The reason my pool was better than any one else's was the fact that we could dive. Above ground's are just so much less of a hassle.
