Anyone really know about Disney Gift Cards??

I was thinking about purchasing some Disney gift cards for my kids to use on our upcoming trip. However, I have read many posts where people have had trouble using the cards at WDW. I just want to make sure this is a good thing and I don't want to be stuck with cards I can't use. I was thinking about ordering them from the DL site only because they are not available on the WDW site (as far as I know anyway). On the DL site, you can actually choose the designs for the cards which I thought would be good so the kids would know whose cards were whose. Has anyone used these cards at WDW? If so, were you able to use them everywhere in WDW?

I had absolutely no problem using my Disney Gift Card, except once at Mouse Gear where the CM had a really hard time understanding that it was able to be used. But of course it was. No problems with swiping (had problems with the room keys though). The receipt gives you the total left on the card. Very simple.

I would like to know this as well, as this was my plan too! On the disneyshopping.com website it says for use at "most" participating WDW shops. I kind of figure I'll get them, then if they can't use them, I'll jusdt pay and use the card elsewhere. It's still better than juggling their bags of cash (to me anyhow)!

The only problems that I have seen posted have been when trying to use the card at WDW resorts.

As already posted, the front desks at the resorts aren't set up to take them yet (supposed to be by the end of this year, beginning of next) I just used 6 of them last week and the only "trouble" I had was where they're relatively new so some CMs haven't come across them yet so are unsure how to accept it (run it through as a charge, a debit, etc) but there has always been another CM nearby to talk them through it.

I was able to use it just about everywhere - store, restaurants, even Food and Wine kiosks are set up to take them. As long as they're set up to take CCs, they're set up to take the gift card.
