Clear Lanes Are No Longer Available.

At 11:00 p.m. PST on June 22, 2009, Clear ceased operations. Clear’s parent company, Verified Identity Pass, Inc., was unable to negotiate an agreement with its senior creditor to continue operations. Verified Identity Pass regrets that Clear will not be able to continue operations

Me! I am not happy, but......

count me as very happy that they shut down.

In Orlando, most of the people using CLEAR were jerks that slowed the line down. They would not remove shoes, belts, or take laptops out of their bags. Then would argue with the TSA's, that they were CLEAR and didn't have to.

Because of CLEAR they got to cut the line in the first place. Learned very quick which line not to get in, but still was close enough to watch the floor show. Will miss the entertainment, and I'm sure the TSA's will miss the aggravation.

Now that CLEAR is gone I really hope Medallion / Elite lines are opened in MCO and ATL/South! I know Delta management wants to bring them back but dealing with the TSA and Airport Management is a real pain!

I flew out ATL on Sunday and the North Medallion lane just dumped into the family line. :headache:

I am a clear user. I am not a jerk. I follow the rules. I don't appreciate your "generalization"

I actually NEVER had an issue at Clear unlike the TSA's "Expert Traveler" line where "Bubba" who last flew in 1960 was an "expert" LOL!

I too had CLEAR. I never saw someone that had the card be a jerk. It was the best travel money I spent. It was great not gettting behind the clueless in line.

Just as us non-CLEAR folks don't appreciate being generalized as clueless.

The folks CLEAR users were cutting ahead of in line weren't just the "Bubba's" of the world, they were people like me who can get through a line every bit as fast as you. We just didn't fork over a check to an outside company.

My frustration wasn't with the CLEAR users (hey, I've have joined too if forced to frequently fly out of MCO) but with the system itself.

And while I never saw any CLEAR users be jerks, what I usually saw were CLEAR users taken to the front of the line, which then ground to a dead stop as the CLEAR user had to take off their belt, shoes, get out their laptop and 3-1-1 bag, etc. It was just a very poorly designed system.

Exactly. :thumbsup2 Our experience was the same--zip them to the head of the line, and then wait and wait as they held up every one else while they were getting everything in order to finally go through screening. :rolleyes1
It's clear to me that the demise of this program is absolutely no loss.

My Mom used it all the time to fly out of MCO, I'm sure she'll be bummed. And she could get through the line quicker than anyone I've seen. (Seriously...frightening!!) Security is a pain no matter how you cut it, you always get stuck behind someone who doesn't know the procedure...we're of course all experts :snooty: I don't think getting rid of Clear will make the lines at MCO any better or worse in all honesty.

They'll be a heck of a lot worse for anyone who was a clear member! People who were not members will see no difference....it's a lose-lose situation!

Actually the lines could get worse. The Clear folks PAID the TSA for those lines. Without that income the TSA probably just won't bother to open them... so that is two fewer lanes! At MCO that will make a difference.

And since I never waited in line for Clear at MCO, I fail to see how the lines are going to be "shorter" now:rotfl:

The reason I joined Clear was the absolutely HORRID line management in place at MCO. I am not sure what I will do now... fly out of a different airport? Seriously I don't think waiting an hour for security is acceptable. We can do it in 15 minutes in Atlanta which is MUCH busier....:confused3

And today in Orange County I was behind the "expert traveler" Took this family FOUR tries to get through the screening machine and then the TSA had to take away several "liquids" over the limit. But Mom had assured the agent that "we do this all the time" :scared1:

Huh? The big problem at MCO (at least on the East side, maybe it was different on the West) was that there weren't any CLEAR lanes for metal detectors. CLEAR folks checked id's and boarding passes, but that's not where the backups are. They went through the same lanes as everyone else, after cutting in front of them in line.
