I will have almost 4 and almost 6 year olds at parks in Feb. Eldest doesn't use a stroller but I am worried about her giving out late in the day even with breaks. We went to Chicago late spring and she did great but we still used a borrowed sit and stand in the evenings after a day of musuems. Now they exceed the weight limit for a sit and stand. I will definitely take a stroller for youngest but she is not good about sharing. I am leaning towards renting park strollers as necessary. I am a newbie to Disney and my mom warns we will need it most when leaving the parks. I don't want to lug a big stroller though. I saw that babies r us has Maclarens for rent, but at 56 pounds, my daughter is pushing the weight limits. Have you pushed a big kid in any Maclaren umbrella stroller? Is it manageable?

I couldn't push my son on the MAC past about 45lbs. He's been done with the stroller the last 2 trips but I think pushing almost 60lbs would be very difficult.

I have one. Usually it's my 32lb almost 3 year old in it. But I can push my 58lb 4 year old in it too.

We have a Volo and the weight is up to 55 I believe. Last October we had a just turned 7 yr old in it and no problems pushing. He was about 58 pounds. We were not running for rides at rope drop, but leisurely strolling Epcot in the evenings.

We were in WDW last month with our kids. We bought 2 Maclaren Volo strollers for the trip. Our DS4 weighs almost 40 lbs and our DS6 (has juvenille arthritis) weighs almost 50 lbs. We had no problems pushing either and are planning to use the 2 strollers for our trip to WDW this Thanksgiving. We felt that the Maclaren Volo was the best stroller we have ever brought with us to Disney. It was very easy on the bus.

Hugs to theduhaimes. The doctors thought I had RA when I was a kid, and it was a very scary time (and the pain that got me checked out was no fun, either!).:hug::hug::hug:

The main issue with the Volo and a bigger kid is that they can't easily relax in it. At this point I don't remember how tall DS was when we last used it, but I know he was 6 and his knees were up way high, and his shoulders were at the top of the back fabric. He had to be *beyond* exhausted to sit in it for long, and falling asleep in it caused him to contort himself so his neck wasn't hanging backwards over that fabric.

That was our experience, at least.

I had a MacLaren double when my now 5 year old was born. We used it for 3 years and never had any problems. My oldest (now 10) is a big kid and he would get in it once in awhile and we never had an issue. And it folded pretty compactly for a double stroller.

The last trip we took our Mac Triumph on he was just turned 5 and weighed about 60 lbs. We only used it a couple of evenings and while he was heavy it wasn't too bad for occassional use. I wouldn't want to push him all day though at that weight. He walked our next trip at age 5.5 and we enjoyed the end of our stroller days. Found out 2 weeks later that I was pregnant with DS2....stroller free was nice while it lasted :lmao:

When we went 4 years ago, ds was 5, turning 6 during our trip and dd was almost 2. We brought Maclaren volo for ds and quest for dd. It was not any trouble pushing ds....I think he weighed about 50 lbs. at the time. We will be taking the quest for dd this time around- she is almost 5.5 and weights 44 lbs. We are hoping to stay in the parks longer since she does not nap and be able to do more this time around. We have not used a stroller for dd in the last year, but this will be an exception. I know that we can get more acomplished and she can make it longer if we have the stroller. I love Maclaren's- lightweight, easy to push, fold up easily.:)
