Anyone purchase refurbished item from circuitcity?

I heard that the website was bought by another company but I know nothing about them. They have a refurbished camcorder for 40% cheaper than a new one. Add in the Bing cash back of 13% and the price is great. I am hesitant buying a refurbished item to begin with but even more worried since I don't know the company. Any advice welcome.

We did when they had their stores and we never had issues. The 30 day return policy was in effect and depending on the item and its cost, we sometimes purchased the protection plan.

I am not familiar with the on-line business that remains or if it is anything like the old CC.

I would scrutinize the return policy and as long as it is the exactly the same for a brand new item, it would be safe to try.

Also of note: Refurbished doesn't necessarily mean the item was broken and had to be repaired. But it refers to an item that was returned for whatever reason. So likely the item you are looking at never had anything wrong with it. (at least in the old CC this woud be the case.)

I think it is important to not associate the current "Circuit City" with the old "Circuit City". All Systemax (the company that you're really doing business with when you buy something at Circuit City, now) bought was the brand name, trademarks, and online domains. Other than that, there is no relationship between how Circuit City operated before and how they operate now. This new company doesn't honor old Circuit City liabilities or obligations, nor follows the old Circuit City policies or procedures.
