We won't be able to go until then and just wondered if anyone is starting to plan yet. If so, what have you been able to get done this far in advance?

Would be curious to hear from folks who planned this far in advance for trips already taken or about to take.

It just seems so far away! I almost feel like I need a support group! AAAHH! My husband just doesn't understand, grrr.

Thanks!

Hi Molly2004,

I feel your pain!! My next trip was scheduled for December, 2006 for my son and I. He is the only one of us who hasn't been there for the Christmas festivities yet.

Then........we decided we really wanted to go while the 50th Celebration is going on. Like he said, Christmas comes every year, but this celebration will end. So.......we moved it up to September or October, 2006.

Then........they came out with this free dining plan, but my son doesn't have the money saved yet, and I can't really afford to pay for two of us right now. So.......I asked a friend who hasn't been in 20+ years, and we are going over Labor Day, 2005!!

That will make waiting until Septemer/October, 2006 for a longer trip a little more bearable!

So, my only advice is: try to squeeze in a smaller trip sometime before 2007!! :cool1:

We have an August trip planned for this year and next summer I will be taking a mommy/son trip for my DS kindergarten graduation present (did with DD and it was WONDERFUL!). I almost have my DH talked into a disney cruise for the summer of 2007. He just wants me to show him how I will pay for it

So, I am in the very beginning stages of finding out what I can re. the cruise!

My next trip will be 2007- we are a family of 7, and have to fly, so we can't afford it that often. Right now I am setting up a budget and picking dates.

Awwwwwww! There are other people out there like me. With all unexpected expected expenses this year, we have decided Disney in 2006 is out. I am sooo bummed. I can start saving little by little for Disney in 2007 :) I don't know how much you can start to actually plan right now, probably just estimate how much you will need. :)

I feel your pain but WORSE. I'm scheduling for 2008.

What I'm doing right now is:
* reading the DIS boards daily for money saving tips
* set up a budget
* saving money weekly
* picking a resort - right now were planning on CSR & POLY
* making a rough itinerary (with the help of the DIS board) - my plans will change closer to my dates due to early entry times or extra magic hours
* reading planners and unofficial guides

We never stayed onsite before so there is so much I need to learn (I'm taking baby steps). This board answers all my questions and helps with things that I never thought about. Hopefully, by 2008, we will have all our money saved way in advance and can go free and clear with 2 weeks of enjoyment.

Wish I can go sooner but it is totally out the question...bummer...

Wow 2008! You poor thing! I also get my daily dose of DISBOARDS. Although I thought if I stayed away from them I wouldn't want to go as bad. But that doesn't work it makes it worse :)

yup- we're going January 2007- 18 months away!! It seems like forever. We've been saving here and there and buying some Disney Dollars whenever we can for the kids and for extra souvenirs, etc. :mickeybar
We've picked our dates and I'm ready to book, but I saw another thread that said they only go 500 days out, so I have to wait a little while.
I did hit the Disney Store sale yesterday, though, and picked up a few cute little gifts for the kids (I love the idea of saying Tinkerbell might leave them a little present under their pillow each night!) cute watches for $2.99 and those cute light-up mini-fans.
It will seem more "real" when I can book! :earsgirl:

I'm planning a trip in summer 2006 back to Hawaii, summer 2007 to WDW, and summer 2008 to Europe or Asia and I'm pretty much doing what etwinchester is doing, too. We live frugally, but we love to travel so we allocate for it.

I am itching to become a DVC member, too, so that might be the way for us.

We are a family of 6 - soon to be 7. :wizard:

Yep, DH & I are going this Oct. I'm also in the beginning stages of planning a family group trip for about 15, probably for around Christmas 2007. Will start saving $ for that trip when we return. I would prefer to go during the Fall, but since school age neices & nephews will probably be part of the group, we will need to set it up sometime during the holiday break. With all of the decorations up, I'm sure it will be an amazing time to go.

Right now, I'm talking to the other family members about the time frame and where they might want to stay. Think I might have them convinced to stay on site :Pinkbounc . This also gives me time to collect resort and park literature, and videos for everyone. Might get the kids guide books for Christmas 2006. Pre-trip, I'm thinking about doing a monthly newsletter by print or email to the families, with tips gathered from the boards and the UG. Whether or not they choose to read it will be another thing. Has anyone ever done a family newsletter like this? How did it go over with the non-planners in your group?

we just got back from disney. we went two years in a row for our vacation so the kids and i told DH we would give him one year off so we will be going back hopefully in 2007.i hope i can last that long. but part of the fun for me at least is the planning and finding all the tips, etc on the disboards so i will just have to make do with that.

We are not planning for WDW but for our next Cruise and we can't afford to go till late Oct 2006' of course we are planning and hoping this will be our wedding date as well so that raises the costs but until we make a deposit they can't give us the date. So feeling everyone's pain who can't go till atleast a year from now.

We just got back from WDW and I am so bummed. We are planning on going again in 2007 when our baby will be almost 3. That seems a million years away! I'm hoping to start saving a little money each week. Disney is so expensive!

We just got back too and are planning for 2007. i"d love to go sooner< but money won"t allow it. I'll keep reading theDIS and maybe we"ll be lucky and get a code that will allow us to go earlier. My DDs 2 and 5 are already making plans for their next Disney trip. My older is trying to convince my Dad to take us all during the free dining plan promotion. I don't see it happening, but we can dream.

I'm planning for a 2007 WDW trip. We just got back last month from a nearly month long visit with family in Hawaii while I was 4-5 months pregnant. :goodvibes: I need time to save up again and also for baby #2 in my tummy to grow up a bit. :teeth:

I'm such an addict though, I can't wait to go back again. I am driving my DH nuts already because he's a horrible tightwad and he sees my whole "planning" addiction as me spending his money even before he's made it, lol. :rolleyes1:

I wish there was some way to go sooner but I'm just going to have to be patient. :earboy2:

We just got back in April and I am already obsessing over our next trip which will be sometime in 2007, I just haven't decided when yet and will spend a significant amount of time contemplating that, otherwise I have started planning a budget. We are thinking of renting some rooms at the POP as I have decided that I will NOT be cooking or doing cleaning of any kind on my next trip. I have also been thinking of a mod resort as well but I think it will be a while before I can make up my mind. I will most likely change my mind a million times over the next six months. Anyhow you are not alone!!
Happy planning!

I have this year's trip booked, and I am planning next years... 8/06 in the Beach Club hopefully... but after that I haven't really figured it out~ maybe the cruise? :confused3
