Don't know if this is the right place to post :confused3 Anyone own/buy Disney shares? Just thinking about it and wondering how others feel about this idea?

Thanks a bunch for sharing!

I got my first Disney stock back in 1989.

In 1997, when they set up the Dividend Reinvestment Plan I signed up for that and have been having $100 per month taken from a bank account for atuomatic purchase of stock.

Since I am working PT at WDW I have also been buying stock by payroll deduction, with automatic purchase of 20% of my gross pay every week.

As of right now I have a little over 540 shares.

I bought each of my kids 100 shares when they were born.

It has not been a great investment over the last five years; in the last 52 weeks it has traded at 26.75 - 36.09. Today it is at $33.95/share. If you bought at the low of $14 in 12/02, you'd be OK.

We got the kids some from onestock.com. It is a framed lithograph type certificate. They got dividend checks for like 25 cents.

Yes, I do own several share of Disney stock in my IRA and we have bought some for our children but, if you are looking for a great return on your investment I am sure you would be able to find other stocks that would do much better than Disney. At one time there were some Perqu's to owning Disney but I believe they have all been done away with by now. If only to say you are a "Disney Stockholder" than I think it would probably be a great idea.

I was thinking of investing for my children, but concerned that the trade would not be worth it in the long run. $$$ to buy and not such a big return compared to other shares.

my fiance's father gave us a bunch of dis shares. unknown to me my fiance sold them to help fund our last move :sad1: I was so sad. They were so pretty. I think I may buy one share to frame.
