Dh wants to get me a Scooba for my birthday. I am really excited about it, but am alittle nervous at the big price tag, and wondering if it's worth it. Anyone have any experiences or opinions? :confused3

Anyone?? I'm thinking of getting one too and would love to know what people's experience has been.

let me know how you like it. That looks so neat!

I don't, but I have to Roomba and love it. I was going to get a Scooba, but we put laminate in our kitchen, which is the main room that we needed it for, and it is not supposed to be used for a laminate floor. I love my floor, but I was bummed that I couldn't have the Scooba. Let us know how you like it if you get it! It looks great! Have you read reviews on Epinions?

Oh no!!! I didn't know that. Makes sense though, I guess. We're building a new home, and I plan to use laminate throughout the majority of the home. Oh well, will definitely be getting a Roomba though to keep the dust bunnies and dog hair under control.

I'm sure it's a CYA type reason and as long as it worked ok it would be fine, but the minute it left too much water on the floor and there was a problem the company would be in hot water, no pun intended.

Our local news has a "Deal or Dud" on certain products. They did one on "Robomaid". It was a DUD! Here is the report:
_____________________________
ROBOMAID

* Price: $19.99 (we got ours at CVS)
* "DUD!" Stop fussing about your floors- the makers of the Robomaid say they'll do the dirty work for you! Unfortunately our tester reports they don't do it well enough. She calls the product flimsy at best, and says it barely picked up anything... but instead just moved the dust and dirt around her floor leaving behind a line of debris. For more information you can check out the company website when you visit robomaid.com.

That's why it's almost always best to just spend the money on the real thing instead of the cheap knock offs. I've never heard anybody say anything negative about the Roombas.

KBkids - thanks so much for keeping my thread alive!!!! I went out of town, so I haven't been on the boards in a few days. Hopefully we'll find some good information. It looks cool, but it's so new there aren't many opinions out there yet. Hopefully we can get some good info...

BTW - Went to Sharper Image, and they said that it works okay on laminate floors.... :confused3

I just rechecked the iRobot website and it still says

!CAUTION: DO NOT USE SCOOBA ON THESE SURFACES:

Carpet or rugs
Unsealed hardwood or stone
Laminate wood or Pergo

Sounds like maybe the Sharper Image employees haven't read the website. ;) Or maybe some people have bought it who have laminates and haven't had problems.

The cleanup of this thing is a pain. Dh saw it at CES this year and he said you have to take the entire thing apart and clean them very, very well. He said it took longer to clean the darn thing than it did to clean the floors. Before he saw that he really wanted one.

On the other hand, we have a Floormate and it is awesome. You can mop the floors in no time flat and it sucks the water up so the floors are dry! Plus it's only $100.
