We're looking to purchase one. DH wants a Buick LaSabre, but that seems like such an "old" car (no offense to those who have one). I'm short so I have a yearning for a big, powerful SUV. I've always wanted an SUV, and I love the way Denali's look...I'm just nervous about the cost of gas for that thing. What do you think? Will I really feel "pain at the pump"?

Other than gas though, how do you like it?

I know a couple of people who have the XL Denali and they both love it. It is very expensive to fill up though. My sister was spending about $100 at the height of the gas crunch.

I don't have a Denali but my sister does. I have a Ford Expedition which is very similar. It will cost you a small fortune on gas. At the height of the gas prices it was costing us about $75 -$ 80 to fill up and that was good for about 350 - 375 miles. We get about 14 -15 miles a gallon. My sister is about the same on her Denali. If gas is a big factor for you I wouldn't get something that big. For us it's not really an issue. If gas was $5 a gallon we'd still drive it.

I drive the GMC Yukon XL. I think the Denali is the same vehicle, it is just a little fancier. I like my Yukon, but I'm used to big vehicles. It is expensive to fill up w/ gas. However, we have two big dogs and two kids and we go back and forth to the lake a lot, so we really need the extra room.

I don't have a Denali, but I have a Yukon XL. This is my 2nd one. I love mine. I get an average of 16 mpg in town and 19 mpg highway. We have been to Ohio, Florida, Alabama, Georgia, and South Carolina on road trips with ours. It is great to have so much room.

My brother just traded his 2000 Denali in for a Pathfinder. Aside from the disgustingly low gas mileage it got, he liked it. He says that he will never get another one because of the gas mileage it got though, and also because the trade in value was horrible.

SUV are great for driving and comfort...We have an Expedition, I LOVE it! Hate the gas pump though. ;) Then again any truck is the same, it isn't just SUV's that use a lot of gas.

That's not exactly true. My Tacoma gets great gas mileage - even better than my Taurus
