Anyone out there teetotalers?

I enjoy a :drinking1, but I do have a cup or 2 of tea daily

I abstain from alchohol because I feel "weird" when I drink it. The effects are not good. I wish I could enjoy a drink every now and again, but I can't. I do drink LOTS of tea each day.

I'm not opposed to having the occasional drink in theory... but in practice, I rarely get the opportunity to :drinking1

Me! I especially miss a glass of wine with dinner. Wonder if I can cheat a little in WDW if I don't take my med

(Deb, did the e-mail ever make it?)

My best friend hasn't had ANY alcohol in about 6 years, because her husband doesn't like drinking. (and who's going to mess with him? He's a cop! :p ) As for me, I only drink socially...which means I have about 1 drink every 3 or 4 months. Alcohol doesn't do much for me. I have a high tolerance for the stuff.

Sadly, no. Must be lost in cyberspace . . . or maybe you can somehow blame it on the DNC messing up your e-mails, or something . . .

Did you get anything in the US mail?

I only drink occasionally but DH is a teatotaler. And he really drinks hot tea all year round--he's English.

Well, I'd just like to say that I got that really wild stage out of my system during my teen years.:D I never drink to excess now.

I always post that in the hopes that someone else may be inspired to calm down.:sunny:

one at xmas .....a plum wine fairy sends me a bottle and I share it....and then new years eve I drink the other glass.....my husband doesn't drink anything but one beer a year at Germanys biergarten....we are weird people I guess.....we both could do without the one or two driinks a year that we do...

I'm sitting here looking at it as we speak. I'll see what I can do about the original message.

Ah Ha! I see you got it. SCARY isn't the word for what's going on around here. Looks like I'll have to put my Disney bag away for a week or risk being searched every morning and afternoon. This whole thing is out of control. It hasn't even started and I'm tired of everyone around here talking about it.

I haven't had alcohol since the night before I got married, and I've been married 24 years. My husband is very uncomfortable drinking. He has no problem with others drinking, just won't do it himself. He is a high school youth worker and said he would hate to have students see him drink or purchase alcohol. He knows that it's okay for him, but knows that, sometimes, a student will use whatever reason possible for drinking (far fetched, or not) and he does not want to be that stumbling block.

He said when we move away, and he no longer works with youth (like that'll happen any time soon) maybe he'll partake of a beer here and there.

Therefore, I do not drink out of respect for him. I don't miss it, and do not blame him for our teetotaling lifestyles. It's also expensive and we are very frugal.

We drink iced tea yearround :teeth: !

I've never had a drink of alcohol in my life. Not even Nyquil! Of course it can be a little difficult sometimes. I'm in the Navy which has a definite social drinking climate. Most people are pretty tolerant though.

I've just never felt the need to drink or wanted to give up control to anything. I am a Southern Baptist and born-again Christian but that doesn't factor into it. My church does frown on the consumption of alcohol but there is no pressure for abstinence.

I've gone 32 years without it. No need to start now. Besides, all the money I save by not drinking goes straight into the Disney Vacation fund!

I'm teetotal. I'm 22. I've just never been interested in drinking and the bits I've tried (you know, like a sip of your parents wine when you are a kid or whatever) I have found I HATE the taste of alcohol too! The most you'll get me to have is a sip of champagne to toast someone at an event. Or a bit of bucks fizz (95% orange juice please!)

I quoted the above because its amazing how many people, when they first hear from me that I don't drink are just stunned (I guess the culture over here is for most ppl my age and younger to be binge-drinking themselves into a stupor at least once a week  ) and I have often had almost complete strangers asking me if I don't drink because of religion?! What is up with that? I just look at them strange and say that I wasn't aware of Christians being averse to alcohol. It's just a life-choice of my own.

On a related note apparently it is becoming popular/chic in London to be a teetotaller. They are calling ppl who are 'wagonistas' and its a new career girl chic fashion or some such

LOL - Long Post!

Gaspode
