If you were on a Mardi Gras float, please let me know how you managed to get on one! Please let me know!

We were on a float on February 28, but it was totally a matter of being in the right place at the right time. We were standing along the curb across from Twister, and a park employee approached us and asked us if we wanted to be a part of the parade. I actually thought she was coming over to tell us we needed to move or something, and was surprised that she was inviting us to ride a float! Maybe it helped that it was a Friday night and not a Saturday, as it sounds like Saturdays are more crowded due to the concerts. I really don't know how it happened, but it sure was fun!

Well, I'm glad to hear it was easy for someone ! We were on a float on the 28th of Feb also !
We spent ALL DAY on Friday looking for people who *might* have tickets to get on a float ~ we didn't eat, we didn't ride anything, we didn't stop, unless it was to talk to an employee!
We went to guest services 3 times, in hopes that they would have tickets (he didn't :(, but he did throw us beads:))
Finally at 5:30pm or so, we foud a director of tech. services ( A HUGE thanks to him) who made a few phone calls & could not *promise* anything, but said, if you wait right here (in front of twister)*if* there are tickets available, he will meet you here. (LONGEST WAIT OF MY LIFE !!! LOL) Finally......around 6:30 - 6:45 the guy who was in charge of the parade (you remember Frank, don't you ?) came out & gave us tickets. We have NEVER been so happy!! :bounce: It was a LOT of work & we really didn't think it was going to happen,(especially during the l-o-n-g wait for Frank to come out with the tickets) but it did ! I would say to try guest services early in the am, but there are only 80 or so spots on the floats, & more than 50,000 people in the park, so best of luck. My advice, keep trying, & be bouncy !!!:bounce: they like to see happy people !
It really is just the luck of the draw.
Oh I believe if you have an AP, there is a drawing you can sign up for, but I'm not sure as to the deadline or if it is date-restrictive.
Good luck again, its the closest you'll get to being a rock star !!!! :):jester:

Once it was because my mom's company (years ago) got set up to be on a float. Other times it was simply waiting in the particular area and hoping to be put on.

Is there an age restriction for riding on the float? Also a limit to the number of people in the group/family? There will be 8 of us ranging in age from 3-60yo.

My daughter rode with us last year, she was 8. It was so much fun. You really do feel like a star.

We are going to try again this year to get on a float. I e-mailed AP services, but I was told that Friday nights are AP nights....We'll keep trying.

We are doing a Mardi Gras Float next week when we visit US.

We booked a package staying at the HRH with 2day/3rd free at the parks- promotion.

My kids are worried that because they are riding on the float, they won't get any beads!! Is this the case?

thanks for the info!

our adventure begins in 7 more days!!:bounce:

We got to keep 8 beads and 2 coins per person. We also bought a few of the fancier beads earlier in the day.

In the years past, it was simply "wear however many you want to keep" and then you could hoard any leftover if you were quick. If they're getting *THAT* stingy (8 beads/person), then sheesh!

Last year our float ran out of beads, we had to throw ours to the crowd. (we had been to the parade a few times so we had plenty of beads)

The first time I was on a float I ran out of beads, too. I learned the trick is to throw them out sparingly if you want to keep a good supply. And dont throw many to the first people you see. There are plenty of other floats who will do that.
