Anyone NOT make room requests?

We are planning our first onsite trip but hadn't planned on making a room request bc we aren't really that picky. Seems most people on this board are making room requests of some sort. Does anyone have any tales to share of not making a request and just taking whatever is assigned? Is this just asking for trouble? By not making any requests does one wind up with the worst rooms that noone else wants?:confused3

We didn't, and ended up in a fine location (courtyard view at CBR - it was lovely).

We have been to WDW 20+ times and never have made a room request ahead of time. We always make any requests at check in and have never had to wait for a room and have always been very happy with the room we got.

We have been too WDW 4 times prior to this year and never requested a room beforehand and were always very happy with the room we were given at check-in. We were given free upgrades at check-in, w/o asking, at CR and WL and rec'd incredible rooms. At CBR, we had a lengthy discussion with the CM at check-in re: choices, locations of rooms, and why, etc., again w/o asking, and we were very happy with the room we rec'd, even though we had never been to CBR, and (embarassingly) didn't have a clue as we really hadn't done much in-depth research until we started planning this year's trip (we just found these boards a couple months ago). We basically winged it re: the rooms and were very happy.

We may actually request a room at POR this April and see what happens.

Add us to this list-we have never made a request either:thumbsup2 We have never had a problem with where we were located. Good Luck and if you get a room where it seems really far away and you do not like it when they show you where it is ask to switch. Can't hurt to ask all they can say is no.

We go twice a year and never request. honestly, I think too many go overboard with requests too often and then get frustrated when all their demands are not met. At most I would request a building but not more specific than that.

I rarely make requests. Now that I have small children, I request first floor in the resorts w/o elevators, but that's about it. At CSR, I did request a building AND I requested to be near another family... and neither request was met. But we were with a really large group and I checked in late. We DID get the first floor, and that's what really mattered to me the most.

I think spinning the roulette wheel is kind of fun. And honestly, if I'm overlooking a parking lot, eh... could be worse... I could be at home! :laundy:

We've never made a room request. And we've always been okay with where we were placed. We had a gorgeous water view room at POR. We always seem to end up in Mighty Ducks at ASMovies, but then we just grab the bus at ASMusic instead since it's closer.

DH and I did pay for a king bed at CBR, and ended up with a gorgeous, corner room with a great water view. I don't know if they gave us such a perfect room because we were there for our anniversary or not, but I can't complain!

Now, when we stayed at SOG, we were about as far away from the lobby as you could be. So, it was a long walk after being in the parks during the day. But, we had requested three rooms in a row, so that probably had something to do with it. But, if we go back with MIL/FIL, we will request to be closer to the lobby.

I don't. We got upgraded once at WL to a beautiful pool / lakeside view so I looked into how they do this. Some say its up to the discretion of the CM. I honestly don't care enough about a room to ask, but also I figure not asking may help endear the CM to us! Hahah, doesn't matter either way to me. Some people the room might be more important.

Our last trip in November was the first time I had made a room request. We were staying at CBR for the first time and I had heard how spread out it was, so I requested either Jamaica 45 or Aruba 51 to be close to the bridge and walkway across the lake. We got exactly what we asked for (Jamaica 45) and loved it!! I will be requesting the same building for our trip in June.

In April, we had booked a standard room at WL, no special requests. We were upgraded to a beautiful inner courtyard room!

I give up on room requests. I made them on my last 2 trips for things like specific buildings (I'd understand if I don't get this request) and things like "top floor" and "bed rails" (things I actually expected to get). We didn't get ANY of them on either trip - not even the bed rails!

But...
We got WONDERFUL locations both times nonetheless.

So...I've learned to just trust Disney to take care of us. :thumbsup2 :yay:

The only request we've usually made is for a non-smoking room for medical reasons. That request was so important that we didn't make any location requests. We've been assigned to great rooms and not so great rooms, but never a room we couldn't live with

We have been three times and never had room requests. Our rooms were great all three times. Last year we were a little worried because we checked in very late (11 p.m.) but we had a great room at POR.

I've never made a room request, and have always been more than satisfied with where we were placed. I guess I just don't want to tempt fate!

We didn't, and ended up in a fine location (courtyard view at CBR - it was lovely).

We had a similar CBR experience. We didn't buy Preferred and has a great location in Martinique, I think bldg 24. Not too far to the Food Court, really close to the bus and also near our quiet pool. Luck of the draw worked just fine for us too.

I have never made any requests other than non smoking(before the resorts were smoke free). We have always been greatly pleased with our room location/amenities. In fact, I don't think there has been one single time when we would have done better by making a lot of requests and being lucky enough to have every single one of them met.

I haven't made any room requests the last 3 trips :)

I've gotten room category upgrades by not making any requests and also some really good locations.

Depending on where I'm staying I might make a request because I really dislike certain views or areas:
WL courtyard I don't want it to be looking at WLV
OKW I don't want the balcony to look at the jungle with the noisy highway beyond that
CBR I just don't like Trindad South or Barbados

:)

We've been to WDW twice and have never made room requests. Both trips we were upgraded - BC Conceirge first trip and AKL Savannah View second trip! I think people can drive themselves crazy trying to get the "perfect" room.
