I booked a reservation a while back at PBR with AP rate. I have my confirmation, but my credit card was never charged. Is this normal? Last time I made a reservation, my card was charged.

Pam

It took about a month and a half for mine to get charged. Then it ended up being about $10 less than what I was quoted. I guess they don't add the taxes in until you're actually there.

I have booked 3 stays with the HRH and havent ever been charged a deposit. After the first booking i waited and waited for the deposit to show up on my bill but it never did so I called the hotel and they said that they usually dont take a deposit, they say that to cut down on ppl booking stays that they arent going to use.

I was charged a deposit at HRH but not at RPR even though I was told that I would be charged one. Who knows.

I booked HRH about a month ago for an October trip and I was charged a one-night deposit including tax. Not sure if it makes a difference, but it was at the ENT rate.

I wonder if it makes a difference which number you call to book? I used 1800BEASTAR.

I made reservations at the PBH (AP rate) in March for a June trip (one full week) and haven't been charged as of yet for the deposit.

I also made a reservation with Tiffany's Car Company and they required no deposit either.

We are staying on the club level of the PBH and hope it is worth the extra money.....!

It's luck of the draw I guess. I have two bookings. One has been charged, the other hasn't yet. I called to confirm and I am confirmed on both bookings..... weird, I know.

I booked both the RPR and HRH in January and got charged for the RPR, but not for the HRH. Weird.

I was charged on my amex for the one night deposit.

The only problem is that I am trying to pre-pay, and they are making it so difficult. Sent two faxes, both were not legible. Now she is saying send a check. I do not like the idea of their having so much of my information - credit card, driver's license, and checking account information, so I am just going to wait and let them get the money when I get there.

I'm glad I saw this thread. I've been checking my CC on-line and haven't been charged for a reservation at the HRH that I made over a month ago for a stay in July. I guess I won't worry about it but I'd rather they did charge my CC...less to pay when I arrive. ;)

I have made reservations 5 times (4 at RPR, 1 at PBH). I have been charged the deposit 3 times and not charged 2 times. There doesn't seem to be any rhyme or reason. Once I made the reservations only 4 weeks in advance and wasn't charged. Another time, I made the reservation just 2 weeks in advance and was charged. No matter whether they took out the deposit or not, my bill has always been correct when I check-out of the hotel.

I wonder if it has to do with the type of credit card you use

Cred vs. debit
Amex vs mc or visa

My wife and I went to Vegas for a week in 2002 and the TA who made all of the arrangements never charged our card at all for anything.

I booked our stay back in March and I still haven't received anything on my CC either. I even called a few times to confirm the reservation. I thought it was odd, because we actually got charged a desposit last year. Well as long as I get there 7-13 and they have a room at the same rate for me...

Now, is there anyway to get them to prebill you for your stay? I'd love to have it paid for and out of the way before I get there. That way when I get back the only charges on the Universal MC are for all the stuff we ate and bought. I hate seeing that huge bill a month after vacation.

Aaron,

I was going to pre-pay mine account so that I could have it paid off when I got there. I gave up, however, when I had to send two faxes with my a copy of my driver's license and credit card in order for her to charge it on to my card. She called me back twice to tell me that she could not read the information. I just gave up.

I read on here that someone used traveller's cheques to pay the bill when they got there. I think I will go that route.

I will pm you the informaiton you need.

Connie

Who is your TA? I would like to book one of those trips! ;)

Talk about charges not showing up....a few months ago on a cruise I bought a pair of expensive earrings in a jewelery store in Grand Caymen. Not only did I not get charged for the earrings but they gave me a $68.12 credit! I was looking for the charge because they seemed to have a lot of trouble with their computer and it took 15 minutes to get the charge computer to work and they ran my card a few times! I don't know where the $68.12 came from - but who cares!!

Also my cell phone bill has been getting an $85.60 credit every month for the past 6 months - amouont due = $0 I don't know where that amount came from either...I don't even use it that much:)

A few years ago, my husband and I went to Rhode Island in June. We stayed at the Marriott, in a huge room with a great view. We ate dinner there most every night and drank a lot and charged everything to our room (mostly had lobster and champagne). We checked out by going to the front desk with our bill and credit card and signed the receipt...and never got charged...and it was a LOT of $$.

If I could only be this lucky with the lottery!

It is strange how charges for reservations don't show up..I think they are supposed to take 1 night as a deposit...sometimes they just take the CC# (to hold the reservation)and if you don't show up then they charge you .

Thanks Purrrfecta. Thats not a bad idea.
After our last stay we decided to get a Universal MC, you get discounts of 10% at just about everything in Universal with it. Best of all you get double points for buying crap there. If I get 80,000 points I get a free RPR vacation! Whoo-Hoo. After a year I only have 4000, Only 76,000 more to go!
If you get a chance send me some info. maybe we will decide to do that. I really do hate that huge bill after we get home.

You could just send the credit card company the $ amount of your stay and keep paying for all other monthly charges. When you go you'd have a credit of that amount and when hotel charges you it would be a wash. That seems like it would be easier than getting travelers checks. I hope this makes sense. Hard to explain :)

I also made 3 reservations for our group of 11 at RPR and paid with my MC and have not been charged but I have not gotten a confirmation by email either. I asked for one and I did have to call back and they do have my reservations, should I call back and insist on the email confirmation? I like having a printout of it when I check in. I am a Loews member, maybe I'll call Loews directly, sorry I answered my own question! LOL!
