Just curious if there is anyone out there that prefers not to "dress up" and go to the dining rooms.
If so where else can you eat besides room service at dinner time?

Thanks!!!

You really don't need to 'dress up" in the dining rooms other than formal nights....dockers and nice shirt is fine for all evening other than the formal nights.

You can go to Topsiders which serves a great meal or one of the burger/pizza places on deck 9.

We are on the 7 night western Nov. 6 and requested a table for four because we do not plan on eating in the dining room every night. We are in a cat. 3 so apparently we can order off any menu and have it delivered to our stateroom which will be nice since we have a 1 yr old and 5 yr old. We will still tip our servers for the full 7 nights even if we do not eat in the dining room though. There are plenty of food choices if you do not go to the dining rooms. Have a great cruise. ;)

On our first DC we ate in the dinning rooms every night. This next cruise, I think we may chose to eat at topsiders one night.
My dd's ate with us every night. I made them. I promised them that they didn't have to do that on our next trip. The only requirement is that they eat with us the first two nights. The first, just because and the 2nd because we have a birthday in our party. But after that they are free...........

I think it would be nice to eat at topsiders and sit outside. I am looking forward to that.

We ate at topsiders when we boarded last time. I think we are going to try Parrot Cay (is that the one that is open?)

Yes, Parrot Cay is also open for embarkation buffet. We actually prefer to eat lunch in Parrot Cay when we board because it is nice and cool in there. It has the same food as Topsider's but I do no like eating in the humid air (can't always get a table indoors at Topsider's).

I would rather start off the cruise nice, cool and relaxed!!!

How late is parrot cay open for the buffet on embarkation? We will be taking the DCL bus from CBR and I dont think they pick up there until around 12:30 or so--putting us at the port at 1:30--give or take.....Will this allow us enough time to eat lunch?

I prefer Parrot Cay after boarding also....we did topsiders once and had to find our own seats and that was not an easy thing to do...in Parrot Cay they seat you and serve your drinks to you...

We have tried to eat at Parrot Cay, but are always directed up to Topsiders. Can you tell the CM that you want to go to Parrot Cay?

I did not know you could request the table size. How and when do you do that?

We decided to eat at Topsiders during formal night. We didn't feel like dressing up and the dining room we were assigned to didn't have anything on the menu we really wanted. We were pleasantly surprised at the atmosphere in Topsiders at night. They put placemats on the table and the lighting is turned down. It was a very nice dining experience, very quiet and we gots lots of atttention. Next cruise we plan to eat there more than once. Its a great alternative. Animators Palate is usually not our favorite dining room so we will definately check out Topsiders again.

They tried to direct us there too...I just told them I would prefer top eat at PC and they sent us there.

Yep...just tell them you would like to eat at Parrot Cay...we have never had a problem.

delo4,

After reading your post about missing formal night, DH says he wants to miss formal night, too! He thinks semi-formal night is enough for him, which is great because at first he didn't even want to attend THAT. So we decided on a compromise, to attend semi-formal, dressed appropriately to have a nice family photo, and skip formal and do Topsiders or room service on the verandah.

This idea also gives my two teen DSs a free night to eat where they wish, with The Stack friends, or wherever.

At first I never even considered skipping formal night, but now I see it has it's benefits for our family, to make everyone happy.

Pluto 2 I requested a table for 4 when I made my ressie. Now of course we could be at a table for 8 but whatever... we tried. :earsgirl:

I know we've drifted from the original question, but as to PC or Topsider's on embarkation day...

My thought was to go to Top's, as we will want to grab a lounge and let the kids swim for a while right after (hey, I was a lifeguard, so no advice about waiting 30 minutes... :earboy2:

So, my question is, do you think for Mickey/Goofy pool reasons, it really makes a difference where we eat when we board?

p.s. Hopelea - I know my kids, and I know they will want to live at the Club/Lab, so I've let them know the rule is they eat breakfast and dinner with us every day, and see the show w/ us after dinner. My boys are 7(twins) and 11 (will be 12).

Pluto2, we requested a table for 5 via our TA

Ah, talking about eating on the DCL...one of my favorite subjects!!!:hyper:
