I see these threads of people fortunate enough to go for 10 days, 2 weeks, longer, and I'm so envious. DH's job won't allow him to take more than one week's vacation at a time. In 23 trips to WDW, I've only stayed more than a week once, when I stayed solo for a few extra days. I'd love for us to be able to go to WDW for longer, but I guess as long as he's working, it ain't happienin :sad1: Is there anyone else in this position-only being able to go for 1 week, at most?

We only started taking 10 day holidays last July for the first time and now I am hooked. If you add both weekends to your trip and one extra day (such as a long weekend) it works out to the 10 days (9 nights).

The extra couple of days allows you the "down" time needed to really start to relax but we use to only go for 7 nights.

Once you have 10 days - I don't think you will ever want to go back... :badpc:

Sure.... The shortest trip we've taken was for 7 nites. That's the least I'd take. This way we can take our time and go around the parks at a leisurely pace, go back to the hotel, play in the pool, etc. etc. and not feel that we didn't see everything that everyone in our party wanted to do/see. Most of the time we go for 8-12.

I don't think we've ever gone for more than a week either. We are retired, so that is not the issue. My mom dog-sits (our dog can't deal with staying in a kennel) and we don't feel right about being away longer than a week. It would certainly be nice, though!

We sometimes stay less than 1 week. My DW's dad lives close by, so 5 or 6 days of WDW, then over to Titusville for a few days.. And I am a teacher, so I have the whole summer off..

I think 10 days is a bit much, I don't want to "wear Disney out".... JMHO..

We are new DVC members and so have not gone to DW as members but we went for our honeymoon for nine nights and I thought it was the perfect length of time. However, DH's new job (which gave us the finances to make the DVC plunge) will not allow for such a long trip (except the week after Christmas) so we probably will not be doing that again for a while!! It will be little trips for us!

In summer we usually stay for 4-5 days then go to the beach for 3 days or so to recuperate! :sunny: Now that we are DVC members (new!) we can go to VB after the parks!
We don't like to take the kids out of school (older son is entering senior) so we make short trips during the school year. :cheer2:

We go for around 12-14 nights in the summer. I like to split up my stay so it feels like I am starting a new vacation when one ends. :)

However, next year with my son's tennis schedule I do not think we will have as much time there.

We've done a lot of six night trips. We're only a 2 hour flight away - so that helps. But I prefer at least a 7 night trip.

In the winter (when it's brrrr cold in Indiana) we like to come in on a Wednesday or Thursday and stay at a moderate or the Wilderness Lodge and then switch over to DVC points on Sunday. That's our long trip - getting out of Indiana in January. You can pick us out, we're smelling the flowers because we know we won't see any again until about April at home.

It's also hard for us to get away for a week, so we usually take 2 - 3
shorter trips (3 - 5 nights) during the year. It's not too bad in that it
gives me more times to plan (I love it!), and we go different times of the
year. (May Flowers, October Food and Wine, etc.)

Everyone's situation is different... I'd love to take a bunch of mini-trips but I live in California hence not an easy drive to Disneyworld. So when we go we normally stay from Saturday night through the following Sunday. 8 nights normally. We fly out on the red-eye Friday night too and arrive very early Saturday morning... It is only 5 days of vacation for my dh since he only works M through F.

We usually do 6 nights staying on points and then pay cash for Saturday night usually at a cheaper place such as Pop Century.

We have never gone for more than a week, and probable won't for many years to come.

Two months ago we did a 12 night trip - all of it in a 1-bedroom at OKW. We thought we would have had our fill of disney by that time but by the end of the trip we all wanted to stay longer. Long slow relaxing days , many EMH evenings - lot's of viewings of Illuminations. Many days we slept till mid-morning and didn't hit the parks till early afternoon.

We gotta do this again !

As been said,”Everyone's situation is different...” We live 1,300 miles away from DVC and prefer to drive so we use all of our points on one trip each year. We go during January and February and stay in a studio to maximize our points. When none of the kids and/or the grandkids come we have stay three weeks. This year we have booked twenty-one days at BCV and another two weeks at POR, did I say I was retired. :)

Our "usual" trip is 4 days, but we save up points to do longer stays every few years. Our last trip that was long was at Xmas/NY's time in 2005; we stayed for 8 or 9 nights.

We always do 9 or 10 days. However, starting in Sept 2007 our oldest son starts middle school (5th grade) and we are reducing our trips to 8 days and planning so he only misses 5 days of school. Our district gives 5 vacation days a year to students. They will allow others of course, but they are technically "un-excused", not a big deal in our elementry school, but it could be in middle school. The teachers don't have to give the make-up work for anything over the 5 vacation days. Our middle school is HUGE-almost 1500 kids for just a 5th and 6th grade school. We wouldn't be just dealing with one teacher, but several, with a lot of other kids to deal with also.

We've never done WDW longer than 5 nights, but many many 5 night trips starting in 1977, so it has nothing to do with DVC. Money probably was the factor, we alway have had to fly, and 5 nights always seemed to be just right.

We're older and wiser, (we both think a week or two would be nice) but now we sharing our points with our family (Yeah, the DGC are old enough, first trip coming up), so, 5 night WDW vacations are still what we're doing.

Bobbi :)

We've done two 2 week stays at WDW. Once at OKW and the second time we started at SSR, moved to OKW and then back to SSR again.

The most I've done is 5 nights...that's working Tuesday til noon, driving to Disney and coming back on Sunday. Since I do the payroll, I have to be there on Monday's to transmit or I'll have about 135 unhappy employees!!
