Wondering how this has gone for others as I recently received a flyer for continuing ed for my CPA. They're offering 40 hours, plus some pre-course 2 hour classes. Thinking of taking 2 hours on a Monday and then an 8 hour on Friday, likely ending around 4p or 5p. It's during December, so I'm even thinking of doing the 8 hour class and then doing the MVMCP that evening. Not sure on the 2 hour one as it is approximately 1p-3p. Any thoughts? I think I can deal with the harassment from the rest of my group, when I have to go to "school" while they're at the pool or Space Mountain. :thumbsup2

EDIT: Well apparently the tickets we get have a "fun" option for waterpark, putt putt, Disneyquest, etc., so may rearrange MVMCP to Monday, and then do some putt putt and DTD on Friday.

I've done it for my CPE and brought the family along. We had a great time. Schedule classes to allow for time at the parks.

Yeah, I'm only going to take 10 hours at the most, so part of 2 days. And we'll probably be there 9 or 10 days.

I went to the Gear Up - Magic Week this past December. Overall, it was a good experience - good enough that my boss is planning to go again this coming December.

We originally were interested due to price (the local cpe here is getting relatively expensive) and location. We stayed off-site (Windsor Hills) and had someone drop us off each morning. We attended 40 hours - Tues-Sat 8:00-4:00 (with a few early sneak-aways). All of us (me, my family, boss, boss's friend) hit the parks on Sunday and Monday and then they did various things while we were in class - SeaWorld (we had annual passes), pool day at resort, Downtown Disney, etc. We did MVMCP one night - which really killed me the next several days during class, but it was still fun.

As far as the classes themselves, they were at least average to good. The food was pretty good overall and the snacks at the breaks were above average based on my experience.

This year I think the conference is a week later, so I'm sure the crowds will be much higher, but I'm hoping they won't be too bad those first few days before our classes.

My family had fun, I had limited fun and got above average cpe, we got to be in Florida in December, and my firm paid for most of it - what's not to like?

Thanks syraphill, that is the class I'm looking at. Going to do some planning tonight, but I'm thinking one of the 2-hour ethics on Monday and then the 8-hour IRS "IRS Audits, Appeals, & Collections: Successful Strategies" on Friday.

I'm with you, I at first jokingly showed a couple partners this, then started thinking about it more when one commented on the pretty low price per hour. One partner thought I should ask again about my travel expenses after taking the ethics. :rotfl:

I don't know what the problem is, 4 first-class flight tickets, and deluxe dining plan seem very business-related to me. Perhaps Goofy can provide some insight on new auditing techniques while I'm eating Mickey waffles. :thumbsup2
