The 10:40 flight would save us $500. I know this would be tight but wondered if anyone had been able to make this early a flight? (can't believe the later discounted flights are already sold out - and I thought I was booking well in advance!)

We made a 10:20 am flight with Disney transportation and had plenty of time. We checked in at the Port and only had to walk to the gate. We did not rush off either but did have early seating for breakfast.

But you may want to wait until alot closer as more flights may be on the schedule, I know some don't release their schedules until a few months before and that is usually when you have the sales. Unless it is a major holiday, but we got our Sunday after Thanksgiving less than 4 months out and the rates did go way up shortly after but came way back down cheaper than what we bought ours.

Our flight was once changed while we were on the ship - and we still made a 10:10 flight.

I would get off the ship as soon as you are permitted and go directly to the bus loading area. IF you have late breakfast and leave leisurely around 9AM, you might find a line like we did in August that kept us at the port until after 11AM!!!! That was not a fun wait in the heat with a tired child and being surrounded by other tired parents and children.

My flight was at noon, but we got to MCO around 9:10. We did BBB for breakfast around 7:15 and walked off the ship at 7:50. Checked our bags right at PC before boarding DCL bus at 8:00 and immediately left for MCO.

Southwest does not release it's flights until 4-6 month before departure date, many other airlines will lower their fares to match southwest's sales. We booked our cruise at 11 months out and at that time flights were running around 265.00 per person, I waited and waited and finally got a flight with southwest at four and a half months out for 148.00 per person.

Both cruises I have been on I was off the ship before 8am. With an hour to the airport that would be too close for my comfort level, but that is me. You cannot predict how busy the security people will be and they don't care when your flight is. Since they suggest two hours I have heard them tell people that tough...we publish a guideline you didn't follow it it is not our fault we will not rush you through ahead of others just so you can make the flight.

I think you have plenty of time to watch for cheaper flights....or even see what DCL offers as a flight price add-on, they book in blocks and may have a guarantee fare from the airlines

If all works well, you should have no problem making that flight. I believe MCO (Orlando Airport) recommends arriving 90 minutes before flight time. There are lots of security lines & they usually move fast. That said, if there are any problems (delays in docking or clearing customs, traffic jams etc) you may have problems. Consider the travel insurance to cover your flight as well as the cruise. If you have not looked into this yet, call DCL or check out www.insuremytrip.com or www.accessamerica.com (the company DCL uses)

I wanted to correct my response, we had an 11:20 am flight, sorry. We still would have made the 10:40 though and were on the 2nd or 3rd bus out. Most don't recommend before 11:30 but Disney booked us on the 11:20. I would still wait though until it gets closer.
