Anyone love their flat iron for their hair?

We are a Chi family also. My DD and I both have curly hair and this is the only flat iron I have found that works. We use Redken Heat Glide to protect from heat damage.

I have a straightener also. But my ends seem to be fuzzy. Anyone know how to fix that? What kind of product should I put on before using it? Either I haven't put any on or I tried redken thermal set, but I also use that when I do my hair curly. I believe it helps keep you curls in, so it might not be something for when I want it straight. My hair is bone straight, but with fuzzy ends. I would love to see straight and silky, shine. That has never happen!

Christinadei...I would also love to know the person you bought yours from on Ebay, if you would like to share. You can pm me if you want. Thanks!

I think I have a CONAIR one as well (from Target). I had the 'old' kind for years and it never worked, so make sure it is ceramic. Also, I use Straight Sexy Hair spray in before (on each section) and after I straighten it. It is the only thing that has ever worked for me, short of having it straightened by a pro. :)

I bought a Sedu from www.folica.com about a month ago and have been very pleased with it. My previous straightener was a Rusk model. I decided to buy the Sedu because I have fairly curly hair and the Rusk just wasn't cutting it.

As far as product, I tend to go with drugstore brands. I like the Thermasilk 'Protect and Conditon' thermal styling cream.

i have a chi i got a couple of months ago and adore it - my hair feels so much softer and looks thicker.

does anyone have fine wavy hair? i'd like to dry a product other than frizz-ese light that protects my hair but doesn't weigh it down. regular frizz-ese is too oily for my hair.

I looked up the Chi brand on ebay. But can anyone give me some help/pointers as to how to weed these out? I found one brand new in box. 1" (that's the size I have now), it was black and red. The ceramic part was red with black handle. I would love some pointers as to what's good in this line and what's now. Especially at $89 each!

Thanks for any help you can offer!!!

I want to order a CHI on Ebay too....but not sure which size to get, any suggestions?

I used to work in a big named beauty store which sold thousands of flat irons a year. I learned many things about them. These are the main rules I was taught:

1) Don't buy the cheaper ones. They do not straighten the hair well and they c*$p out after a very short time. Spend the money and buy the professional ones like Chi or Blue Saphire. I have the Saphire one and it is great! Trust me, I have hair that will not cooperate and it straightens easily and quickly with a professional iron. Stay away from Hot Tools, even the ceramic ones, they are not as good as they used to be. My store would get about 20 returns a week of broken Hot Tools flat irons

2) You should only straighten your hair about twice a week. Otherwise you are really damaging it. I have seen many girls come into the store with dried out, damaged hair because they would use a flat iron everyday.

3) Use a heat protectant product before hand. I have Paul Mitchells Seal and Shine which is nice. I also have a product by Wella but I cannnot remember the name of it off hand. Both are used before hand and help to protect the hair from the high heat. Also they are a great buy because they can be used before using a blow dryer or a curling iron, etc.

4) NEVER EVER EVER use a flat iron on wet hair. I don't care what Revlon or Loreal say, those flat irons for wet/dry hair are the worst things ever.

That all depends on the length of your hair. If you have shoulder length hair I would get a 1 inch. If you have really long hair a 2-3 inch are better. If you are going to use it on your bangs then a 3/4 inch is a good bet. If you aren't sure what to get I'd stick with a 1-1.5 inch. They are the most popular and are good for any length hair.

A word of warning about buying Chi off ebay. Apparently Chi will not honor the one year warranty. Think you have to submit receipt that you bought it at a salon/beauty supply store.
