Anyone live near Greenville-Sptbrg or Charlotte airports and fly?

Our family may fly this year and we live nearly at the mid-point between these two airports. As far as distance to the airport goes, it doesn't really matter either way.
Does anyone have any tips to offer such as which airline, which airport, etc. for the best prices, best service? DH has never flown and I would want his first experience to be a good one and at a good price.
So if anyone used GSP or Charlotte, I would like to hear your advice/experiences.

Delta has several direct flights at decent prices from GSP. GSP is a smaller airport than Charlotte.

You may get a better fare out of Charlotte, it's a hub for US Air.
I just tried all three airports (I tried Asheville NC also) on Orbitz for a May trip:
AVL $263
CLT $198
GSP $248
