I have friends who are moving from here (Chattanooga, TN) to Eugene, OR next month for a job opportunity. They don't know anything about the area, don't have a house, etc, etc. They just know he will be working in Eugene.

Any advice or information about good places to live or good school systems (they have two elem. age children) would be appreciated so much.

TIA,
Lori P :)

I dont know Eugene very well. I grew up in Portland and went to college about an hour away in Corvallis. I asked my dad about Eugene and he thinks that Springfield is really close and it is a cheaper area to live than Eugene but you want to look in the older area of springfield the new area can be kind of trashy. Eugene is a good city, but can be a little expensive as it is a bigger college town.

My DH had a lot of friends who lived off of RIver Road in eugene which is nice, it is between the highway and the mall. Making it kind of central to the entire area

Fern Ridge is a nice area next to a man made lake.

Hope this helps.

momm2four, I live in Eugene. Where are your friends going to be working? It would help me to give you information about which area is closer to live etc. knowing that. If you can think of specific questions let me know I am having a hard time of thinking of general information to give you. :thumbsup2
