Hello again CBers! Our 2nd full day is almost over - the days just seem to fly by down here...sigh.
I started my day sitting on the balcony eating fruit from the lounge. Lots of activity in the morning as the boats are starting their trips to the MK, WIlderness Lodge & Fort Wilderness. We can see Space Earth and the MGM tower...such wonderful sights.
And there always seems to be a parasailer
Everyone was beat so we didn't get up until almost 8! So much for an early start. We spent a bit of the day at Animal Kingdom. I KNOW that this is a beautiful park, but we never spend much time there. It's just so darn hot with not much shade and it always seems crowded. We got fast-passes for the safari and then watched the Flights of Wonder show. Our family loves birds so we always enjoy that. Lunch was at The Rainforest cafe for the first time. We were taken 10 minutes after our ps time and we were served in a very timely matter - I know that a long wait has been an issue for others but not for us. We were in the gorilla section. Good food and fun.
After lunch it was time for our fast pass so we waited about 5 minutes for our safari. MANY people don't get the fast-pass idea and still wait in line. Wait time posted for that was 70 minutes. Lots of animals out - one treat was the baby elephant. (awwww..) One little boy behind us was sooooo excited about the animals and kept yelling when he saw one. Of course he called mostly everything a deer. When we got near water he was asking his Dad - "Are there beavers here? Sharks? "
We walked around for a bit and took lots of pictures. The kids had planned to go to dinoland but opted out because they were hot and tired. That park really wears us out.
Back at the resort to recharge.
We had 7:15 ps for Hoop Dee Doo Review - our first time. We took the boat over to Fort Wilderness. SInce we had time to kill we walked around the petting zoo. One male peacock was trying to impress 3 females but they ignored him. I can see why people like staying at Fort Wilderness - it's like another world over there! We didn't see the cabins, but it looked like a fun place to stay.
The show itself was a lot of fun! And even our DS9 who doesn't like much enjoyed himself. DD5 LOVES shows like that so she was clapping and hooting along. If you haven't seen it yet I highly recommend it. Both kids have asked if we can do it again next trip. The food was even pretty good.
We got back to the resort just in time for the fireworks. We watched them from the balcony of the concierge lounge. Very nice altho I missed the music. Last night we had watched them from in front of It's a Small World and that was a totally different perspective.
Last night we were at the MK and went on Buzz, TTA, and It's a Small World. DH & DD went on the teacups, Dumbo & the Carousel while DS & I watched Mickey's Philharmagic - I love that show more every time I see it.
We have been seeing lots of Red Sox & Patriots shirts and hats and hearing people who talk like us.
The crowds haven't been holding us back, but then again we are not going commando. Part of what I love about Disney trips is just taking it slow and easy..
On the balcony tonight we were talking with a CM named Bill who was telling us some CR info and he was very interesting. I like to talk with people and I've found that there are some real nice cm's who just want to share their love of Disney with you - you just have to find them. So far this trip I have found two.
Still no problems with pool-hoppers, mug abusers or strollers. Actually, I've heard more people with strollers apologize if they got too close. Must be all us polite East Coasters..
Something I overheard today - "If we don't make them (two young children) go on the scary rides then we won't get to do anything"
Why do people dress in black in Florida??
Saw a group of 8 or so teenagers (girls & boys) and one said - "Let's skip!" and the 8 of them skipped away.
During the HDDR there was a young boy (6 or 7) who slept through the ENTIRE show. And his table was right in the front right next to the piano!
We've heard Micky, Minnie and Goffy talk on the elevators here at the CR.
Everyone else is asleep so I must go too. I had the sangria at the HDDR so I am a little buzzed abd will probably find it hard to sleep. Tomorrow is the Magic Kingdom again!!!
