Anyone leave kids with spouse and head out for a morning?

I am thinking of suggesting to Dh that one morning he sleeps in (yeah right) with our 12 month old while I head to a park alone. Then he can do the same the next day (though I know he won't). Anyone ever do this? Was it fun? I have never been to a park alone and thought it might be interesting. Any good tips or suggestions?

I actually did a solo trip once. It was fun. There were times when I wanted someone to talk to though. But in Disney people are friendly so it is easy to strike up a conversation with strangers.

I think a little alone time would be fine during a family trip.

I'm hoping for an early-morning hour where I can just head out by myself to fill up my coffee mug and walk around the grounds of our resort!! I'd love to have a morning (or evening - I'm not picky!) to go solo to a park! However my DH is every bit the Disney nut that I am (and the kids are well on their way) so pulling this off might be tricky. Great idea, though! Go for it!!

Yes, I did this when we were at Disney a few weeks ago. The MK had extra magic hours one morning, and the night before we had all planned to go(my DH, my DS 9 and 5). Well...they were all not ready and were still sleeping when I had planned to leave. So, my husband was kind of coherent and I told him I was taking the Disney transportation to the MK by myself. He had no problem with this and I had such a good time. I got to go on some rides that I hadn't been on yet(namely Space Mountain). I was like 3rd person in line for that ride after the park opened. After I got done with some rides, I looked at all the shops on Main Street. It was so pleasant being by myself for a while and not having to worry about being "rushed" by the family. It is also neat at the MK because they play an opening song and open the gates. If you have a chance to do this, I would say go for it! :sunny:

We do it the other way 'round. I'm a night owl, and DH is a pumpkin, so he heads back to put the wee ones to sleep, and I stay out at EMH until 2 am.

I love doing that during our April trip during the flower & garden festival at EPCOT. But it usually when we are at the park and DH takes the two kids back to the resort to swim and I walk around alone and get to REALLY look at things - it's great! :)

My kids are dd7 & ds11. Now that my daughter is older we enjoy having a "girls only" shopping time around world showcase in EPCOT. The boys go off on their own and everyone is happy. :)

Do it and enjoy yourself!! :thumbsup2

I plan to do this on our next trip. DH, DS 14 and DD11 are all late sleepers and grumpy waker uppers. I have booked the latest character breakfast for 3 mornings. I will go to early magic hour and enjoy the park for a while alone and then meet them at the breakfast (which will be a brunch for us)

Well....not planned but...

I am going to tell them what time wake-up is in the am....whoever is ready can come with me (I will take the bus) and whoever wants to sleep can stay with their father (he will take the car). . .

its funny how fast they can move in the morning when they think they are going to be left behind!! :rotfl:

(I actually did this when we went to Disneyland...I wound up with 3 kids and my husband caught up with us a little later with the sleepyhead.....)
(Or was it my husband that was the sleepyhead?!LOL)

Can you tell that my husband likes to sleep in on vacations more than I do!!

Great ideas, especially the emh hours. If it was just me I can stay out until midnight and get up at 6 everyday no problem. Don't need sleep at WDW! :cool1: Can't do that with the little one though. We will see what happens it sure sounds fun though.

I have found that the afternoon works for us. :sunny: DH stays with DS while he naps, and it gives me a chance to go. This has worked well for us! :yay:
