Anyone know where I can get boy repellant?

We were a the mall and I walked 3 feet away to throw something in the trash when I turned around 2 boys were speaking to DD12. One of them even had facial hair.

She was very confused as to why they just walked up to her and started talking. I wasn't confused at all. It was an ugly wake-up call.

Apparently the braces aren't working. Maybe I can ask the Orthodontist for some decorative head gear even if she doesn't need it.....

I am guessing it is only going to get worse. Man, I am so not looking forward to this part.

My niece is gorgeous, and has a great figure that she's had since she was 12. Oy. It was tough! At my wedding (she's 7 years younger than I am, so she was about 15), all my college guy friends wanted to dance with her, and my hubby did just the same thing as the PP. "Hey guys, did you meet our jail bait niece yet?" She looked so much older that they truly thought she was 18 or 19.

Good luck OP! Maybe the headgear isn't such a bad idea!

Luckily I don't have girls! But my oldest son turned 14 in April and has a full beard! So perhaps they weren't as old as you thought. But he would never be so bold to go up to a stranger in the mall and talk to her! Hang in there Mom!

ACk, I'm right there with you. My DD16 has been drawing attention since she was about 12 also. She has her daddy's Greek looks--thick lustrous dark hair, olive skin, dark eyes. She looks like a gypsy! Thankfully, she has a good head on her shoulders. She has plans for college and doesn't even want to entertain the though of a serious relationship. There have been a few boys who want to come around here, but she lets them know right quickly that while she likes to hang out with them and go places together that in no way implies that they will be going steady. She doens't play the field, she's just very committed to her dreams.

thankfully nobody has stopped to talk to my daughter but I love the double takes that I get when they realize it's her mom walking behind her and I've caught them staring "not in her eyes"

I have twin DD who are 14- I feel your pain! With my one DD- if you don't know hockey- she won't give you the time of day! she plays hockey on an all girls elite team with her younger sister (who will be 9)
the 8yr old is the one I want to lock up sometimes- not for the boys, but for the ATTITUE! she is 100000 times worse than her teen sisters

I remember hubby comming home one day from the mall saying that he YELLED at a MAN when he was staring at her saying "she is only 13 years old". He quickly stopped. I feel your pain! DD13 has grown up so much this past year. SHe still isn't interested in boys..but I am sure they are interested in her. DH is going nuts. DS25 is getting married next year and says he is chaperoning her 8th grade dance this year, and says her brides maid dress will be a burqa!! LMAO. He also wants to get a gun permit .

I really feel sorry for the boys that want to ask out my DD, they have no idea what they are getting into!

I don't think boy repellent will work. They splash so much cologne on that they can't smell the repellent.

The best thing you can do is make sure she knows what your values are and makes them her own. Make sure her self esteem is high too. Girls fall into the "boy spell" easier when they have lower self esteem.

Yes! This is what bothers me too. Grown men openly ogling my DD(14) CREEPS! And, while she has a great figure, she still looks a teen. KWIM? I usually just look them right in the eye, and when I finally have their attention I shake my head in a disgusted manner. They usually look ashamed after that. I don't even care if I've embarrased them. They should be ashamed of themselves!!

Of course, DD is oblivious to all of it.

This is what my DH had planned if we had a girl. He wanted to name her Chastity and greet every boy at the door with a shotgun. I am glad to say I have three boys.

I do have two nieces. As long as the girls have good heads on their shoulders, I wouldn't worry about the guys. My oldest niece is 18 and is more interested in college & an education than boys.

Honestly, I've never understood what the harm was in looking, or even talking, as long as it isn't crystal clear that the girl is VERY underage. Men are human, you know. They are not all creeps. Most of the time they are just normal guys who guess wrong sometimes. (Speaking salaciously or touching is different of course, but I'm not OK with harassment at any age.)

When I was about 13-15 I tended to dress a lot older than my age -- by which I mean that I was fond of wearing business-suit type outfits. Revealing they certainly were not. However, when I was in public places I often had situations where adult men struck up conversations with me. Most of the time they thought that I worked there, wherever there was. I thought that it was flattering and endlessly amusing, but it was simply a passing conversation, there was nothing threatening in it, and in the few cases where it went so far as an invitation, they were very polite when I graciously declined. (Well, OK, one or two of them pushed it with: "Was it something I said?" At which point I told them that I wasn't in high school yet, and they universally reared back in horror and got the hint. ) As long as a girl has a good head on her shoulders and has an "ugh!" reaction to the mere thought of romantic involvement with older men, then there probably isn't really a problem.

As to how to get it to stop if she doesn't want to deal with it, I would suggest reading up on techniques for avoiding being mugged. Not because these poor guys are potential muggers, but because many of the same mannerisms that make a mugger think that you might not be worth it are the same ones that make idle chatters think that you won't give them the time of day. When you stand tall, keep moving, and adopt a very purposeful air, people assume that you are in a hurry or preoccupied, and 90% of the time they leave you alone.
