Anyone know the restaurant?

On one of the Podcast's Kevin reviewed an italian restaurant that was off property. On either that podcast or a later one, he said the chef for the restaurant used to be the head chef at Alfredo's. Given how much I loved the fettucini and hoping that the same chef will produce the same results, does anyone know the name of the Restaurant and the location that Kevin was talking about. I can't find it in the notes pages or by search.

Thanks!

I belive you are thinking about Nonno's. It closed. :sad2:

Before Christmas, John mentioned it on a podcast. He even went by the store to see for sure. I was really wanting to try it, as well.

Nonno's is most assuredly closed.

I dont think a week goes by that we dont mention how much we miss this place.

When I was down in May for PCC 1.0 I ate in Celebration at a place called Cafe d'Antonio. It was a very good Italian meal and I would take it over any of the Italian restaurants on Disney property. I grew up with a Sicilian family (mom's side which is why the last name is very not italian-ski) and have have been to Italy so I am pretty harsh on most Italian restaurants, especially the overly Americanized ones. I would go back to Cafe d'Antonio again without hesitation.

It doesn't exactly answer your question but hopefully gives you an alternative.

THanks... I specifically wanted to go to Nonno's because the Chef was at Alfredo's and I loved the Fettucini there.

That is such a shame. After such rave reviews, we wanted to try it. Is that the place that was open earlier in the week and you went back and they were taking down the sign? I seem to remember y'all talking about it on the Podcast too.

We live in Texas. So, we avoid eating Mexican/Tex-Mex and BBQ elsewhere. But, we'd love to find a "Mom and Pop"-type Italian restaurant in the Lake Buena Vista/Celebration area. Any recommendations???? :thumbsup2 I'll check-out the mentioned Cafe D'Antonio. :thumbsup2 We've tried Celebration Town Tavern for the clam chowder. Yum! Yum! We need a new off-property "locals" place to try next.

Any suggestions are greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance! :wizard:

I've not found a decent "non-chain" ( and moderately priced) Italian restaurant anywhere near Disney. Thats why Nonoo's was such a loss.

Cafe D'Antonio is a decent restaurant, but it has just never caught my attention.

There is another Cafe D'Antonio on Sand Lake Road at Dr. Phillips and a third location in Maitland.

If the weather is nice, the Celebration location has a nice outdoor dining area.

For the most part....the Lake Buena Vista / Disney area is mostly chain restaurants.

I'd try the Stonewood Tavern on Dr Phillips Blvd.

We think it's pretty good and go frequently. They've just started serving lunch.
